Thank you for letting me join you. My customizing projects will mainly be CW/POTP combiners related. I will kick off with my latest project, my version of a CW Menasor because I don't like the Hasbro CW Motormaster/Optimus Prime figures at all. I have used a combination of Hasbro CW Onslaught and Hasbro POTP Inferno for Menasor's torso and Steam Shield's Roadside Samurai Gestalt Head for Menasor's head. Although it's the correct size, the head doesn't fit to Bruticus head ball joint. I have created a clip from scratch and now it fits fine. To store the head in truck mode, the inside 'flanges' of the backpack must all be cut out. Menasor is not completely finished but for about 95%, but I already wanted to show him, because I think he really turned out fine.
Job well done! The more I see Menasor customs utilizing the Hot/slaught voyager mold, the more I wish Hasbro would release an official retool to make up for the underwhelming CW Motormaster we originally got. Looking forward to the Alt mode pictures.
Here already the first picture of Motormaster in robot mode. Some paint was still wet when I was taking the picture. As I have mentioned before, I have used a combination of CW Onslaught and POTP Inferno: Onslaught body with Inferno legs and head. I have done this for 2 reasons: 1) In robot mode he will have these black truck like feet with purple windows which are characteristic for Motormaster. 2) Inferno's head can be changed to Motormaster's head, because it doesn't have a mouth plate like Onslaught or Hot Spot have. But the head takes some work. First I cut away a lot of the upper part of the head. Then I used a piece of plastic u-channel from the local hardware store to create the 'box' around his head. Because I have chosen to paint Menasor more like the G1 toy and the cartoon figure, I have also painted Motormaster's head in G1 toy colors, using pink and black for his face. I hope to finish his truck mode tomorrow and post the picture then.
As promised, also pictures of Motormaster's truck mode. Although he's not a cargo truck but more of a battle truck, I think he doesn't look too bad. I knew I had to do some compromising. For comparison I posed him also together with Onslaught. As you can see the guns are pointing the other way and are covering up the antennas of Menasor's head. Last 3 pictures are taken with the basic figure in the same position. Front and end reversed. In both Motormaster and Menasor modes both guns are facing downwards so they stay hidden on the back. These guns facing upwards is characteristic for Bruticus but not for Menasor.
A short update on my Menasor project. Although I was quite satisfied with the way Menasor looked, it would be great if I could replace Offroad with Wildrider (no matter the Hasbro or Takara one) and luckily this week the oppertunity came. I was able to get the Takara Unite Warriors Menasor set and replaced the current (Hasbro) limbs with the 4 Takara limbs. And this is how he looks now:
I'd be tempted to part swap a head and some red into off road, I think Wildrider could pull off a pick up and Menasor would have 4 unique limb bots.
My old version with 4 Hasbro limbs did have 4 unique limbs. But I want my 4 City Combiners have the same configuration as in the old G1 days back in the 80's. So I already had Superion with Slingshot instead of Alpha Bravo (I turned him into Mach, the Space Shuttle from Transformers Victory Landcross, see other thread) and Defensor with Deluxe Groove instead of Rook. Bruticus in the picture at the beginning of this thread still had AV-8B Harrier Blast Off, but recently I replaced it with Space Shuttle Blast Off. And now I finally have Menasor with Wildrider instead of Offroad. If I be honest, I already sold Offroad so I cannot go back to the old configuration anymore.
...I swear to Primus, I have never seen this thread before today but I just did this mix of parts for two separate projects currently waiting (on an apartment inspection next week) to be painted. NGL, it makes a good Motormaster...
