Guys, guys, it makes no sense to argue over which of those Cycloni is better when this one is the clear winner:

The rotf tie in game is runner up, far more enjoyable than devastation or the armada ps2 game

If you are expecting it to be terrible, you're going to look for reasons why it's terrible. And be unhappy.

 

I went into Siege with high expectations that weren’t met. Earthrise with low expectations that still weren’t met. I’m justified in expecting Kingdom to be more of the same.

 

This is pattern recognition more than anything. After Siege and Earthrise it's perfectly reasonable to make the assumption that Kingdom will also be of poor quality. I mean with what we know about the show at this point I'd say it's a pretty safe bet.

I get what you're going for, but this really isn't a hill worth dying on.

 

I would just question why one is watching at all.

That's what they all asked me. Why that show? Why War For Cybertron? Why, of all Transformers series, did I decide to watch the show whose record of mediocrity and joylessness is legend?

Im going to bring it up again, but my unpopular opinion is that there shouldn't be a thread about unpopular opinions. Its almost always about what show or media was around when they were young. And they defend that as the "best version" because nostalgia.

 

So did I tbh, but I'm mostly arguing with this person's contention that everything recent is crap, and therefore everything coming is going to be crap.

I don't have high expectations for Kingdom, but I'm going into it with the attitude that there might be something in it I'll like. Siege was bad and Earthrise was terrible, and therefore I don't think that Kingdom will be great--but I don't think every other TF series that will ever be made is going to be just like WFC.

Fortunately, this is an internet forum, and I don't need to die on a hill over any of this. As I said above, I wasn't arguing with Suboptimal that there's no reason to think Kingdom will not be a mess, I was arguing with the contention that the whole TF franchise has gone down the toilet.

Of course, I actually do like IDW and Cyberverse a lot.

But I didn't like Siege or Earthrise. I'm sure that Kingdom will be a mess. I'm just hoping I will enjoy the mess more than I enjoyed the previous two series.

 

While I'm tempted to sig that last statement for posterity, I feel it is indeed time we faced facts. If we continue to watch mediocre shows, our love for these toy robots shall be destroyed.

 

If Megatron get's rebuilt into another body or upgraded, he should only rename himself into Galvatron if something that he considers more powerful then him names him that, like Unicron in G1, or if he drastically changes mentally even if the more powerful one is no longer in the picture.

As such the G1 Movie and Marvel Comics are really the only times I think Megatron becoming Galvatron in name actually works.

 

I would say you haven't read much of the thread, then. Perhaps you're selective about what posts you read?

I generally like the UPO threads because it's a place where you don't get absolutely lambasted for stating your opinion. Say a cross word in any of the Appreciation or Favorite of the Day threads, and they jump on you like wild dogs. Being a longtime MP collector but strongly disliking the hyper-toon accuracy from TT lately, I find myself biting my tongue most of the time in the MP speculation thread. And I don't even bother discussing Beast Wars or Bayverse because those people don't take kindly to any desecration of their gospel.

However, I do think people often post things in the UPO threads that either:

(a) they don't realize are actually fairly popular,
(b) they know aren't really unpopular and just want to rake in some likes, or
(c) they know will stir up trouble.

With regards to (a), it's actually enlightening sometimes. With regards to (b) and (c), somewhat annoying. Regardless, I generally like it.

 

I'm hard pressed to think of an occasion when he isn't yellow and black. Even the original toy had black arms and legs to break up the yellow. I always assumed it was a big part of why he was named Bumblebee.

 

G1 optimus being 6 meters is stupid.

 

As in too short, or too tall? IRL the Freightliner cab is probably 2.5 m tall, which makes 6 meters for the robot seem within reason, if maybe a little short?

Yeah, I would have to agree. It's not ridiculously far off-- not bad like Seaspray or anything-- but he should be taller if taking into consideration the actual truck dimensions. I like real-world scaling, but OP is far from the worst offender.
