Another awesome Authentics release, another Shattered Glassing of the figure! Unlike my usual figures, we’re not looking at another Thundercracker. I swear. Instead, it’s the kindly Shockwave! No spaceship mode, as he’s really prone to paint chipping. Especially on that head, made of soft rubber. I had also intended to paint his hose black, but it’s the same rubber and began to shed paint like a mad lad. Even after it was sealed with Mr. Topcoat (which I am now out of). However, I am rather proud as to how he came out. I’m fairly sure I could make a decent in-scale Starscream if they ever came out with one in this pseudo-Voyager-scale. With my other SG Authentics, Sir Soundwave. And in front of Sir Soundwave and Siege SG Megatron.
If I had to make a suggestion, sanding the piece with a medium-grit (400 or so) sandpaper can really help with paint adhesion! I did that after the paint flaked off my Nightbeat's thighs and it's helped that stuff stay on through a transformation sequence.
Awesome. On looking at the pictures, an option for the hose may be to wrap it in electrical tape. Or modify something from the dollar tree "electronics" section.
