According to BBTS customer service:

In regards to your question, per our information from Hasbro/Takara Tomy, that is an updated figure that should have the weak door hinge plastic and other QC issues all remedied. It did take them some time to finally announce the solicit for it but based upon what they've stated - those should be much better than the original set of figures that came out. Beyond that, let me know if you have any other questions or concerns at all!”

So unless they’re lying straight to my face, which I doubt, this is indeed a re-issue

 

I'm trying to find the post, but I remember this being the answer that BBTS gave to others when they previously put up new Hound preorders last year. IIRC, people who ordered it had breakage. I don't believe BBTS is lying but I think they're misinterpreting marketing-type language from Takara.

 

This will be big news assuming BBTS has accurate info from Takara. I'm still skeptical, but will be glad to be proven wrong!

 

Good to know. Personally this statement is the first i've seen of anything and I tried seeing if there was anything before that mentioned this statement but i've got nothing.

So either it IS some sacred new mystery reissue, or more likely it's a random restock.

So who's gonna be the one to test the new stock for all our sake and see what ends up being true?

I just looked it up and they also want $200 for this alleged reissue? Isn't that a higher price than the original release? Unless Takara officially announces a reissue, I don't think this is legit. But I hope to be wrong! It's a great design that needs better plastic.

 

Hmm, yeah, I don't buy it all. Why does no other retailer have it? Why is there nothing about it on TTs website, like when theres an actual reissue? No news from the normal places. A preorder with a instock date the same month? And why is it $200 instead of $150 like the previous release?

They probably just go hold of some unsold stock from another supplier, hence the higher price, and quick turnaround.

 

Agreed! At least TT would have prioritized their own domestic customers first.

 

They just did the exact same thing with an exclusive Marvel Legends Hulk from 2019 so I think what you said is true

 

Yeah, it's not even on TTMall, and all their MP products go on there.

 

Waiting for Hound too, if MP-44 is reissued and significantly improved, I'm gonna be bummed having paid what I paid just a few months ago.

 

Then why does no one else have this information? What makes BBTS so special? Without an update from TT or the same information from multiple vendors I wouldnt believe this at all. Theres virtually zero chance of TT releasing a super secret limited run of MP-47s with QC defects fixed without there being more information and solicitations from other vendors, it just doesnt make sense.

 

Checked my Hound this morning. He was still fine like a month ago or so, but I've finally joined the club.  

The neck armature has cracked.



And there is a crack in one leg panel hinge. It's hard to see perhaps on the photo, but this is not a seam line, but an actual crack.

 

Here’s hoping that TakaraTomy will be fixing Hound’s terrible QC issues.

Seriously tho... that sucks. Mine started out awesome, once the first crack appeared... it was like an avalanche.

 

those are the two cracks that I have had for about a year now (maybe longer I forget) and he’s never gotten any worse so fingers crossed yours is the same!

 

Wow Hound really does seem to be having G1 Black Zarak - Gold Plastic Syndrome type issues.

I'm sure they will fix it with a reissue prior to announcing Detritus. With Skids & Arcee being repainted, I recon its around the corner.
He's a fav character since childhood & I need him, so soon would be nice.

 

Probably just found stock. BBTS is notorious for raising prices on stuff as stock gets smaller
