So got a cheetor a little while back and im glad i did. I had passed on him originally cause he just didnt look very good in the box but outside of it hes excellent! I think his lower legs in bot mode could have a bit better proportions but theyre well articulated so i give them a pass. His cheetah mode is excellent and i love the articulation there as well. Overall i dig him and hes a good update to the og cheetor toy.

I also picked up a set of gut guns for him from tfsafari and they look great!

 

Very pleased with my Cheetor.

Had a very similar "first in line to handle" time with him similar to the one I had with Siege Sideswipe in 2019 that made my wallet hurt....

The upgrade look nice, buy isnt it a bit too big, i dont remember cheetor's rifle being that big

Like some others here, i added some paint on my cheetor, i tried to keep the amount and practical style of the touch up to a factory applyed paint job so he doesnt look out of place with the other kingdoms bw guys (well TBH, apart his tampographied spots in beast mode he didnt received that much of paint compared to others...)
I managed to find the exact shade of blue, it looks identical to the eye, so no mixing and trials for this.
Its the citadel layer lothern blue, i also used a acrylic revel metallic gold 94, all finished with a dilued multiple layer of gloss coat to imitate the visual reflectiveness of the factory paint.
Annnnd added some more spots on parts that werent covered in alt mode, the paw, legs, back of his hand and sides of his hips.
Also did the eyes, all those black touchs easily doable with a gundam marker or a sharpie i guess.

 

thanks sadly i didnt realize until late, that looks nice i wasnt sure if changing the blue to metallic blue was a good idea but i didnt have the other color so decide that it would looke weird with one parts one blue and other metallic

 

And heres cheetah mode, i wanted to add a bit more of his tan color on his underbelly but the color is hard to match...:/

 

Got the gut gun, and i must say i find it a bit disapointing
Sure it does the part as cheetor iconic rifle, but the transformation/integration part designed with this kit doesnt work....as it makes the legs configuration in cheetah mode spreading to give some space for the gun, breaking the overall sleek design of the alt mode...if they had made the gun a bit tinyer with a foldable handle, it could have been perfect, but as it is...

 

Just got my gut gun kit today and you're not wrong. The dimensions of this need to be trimmed down just a hair and it would let you keep the rear legs folded in like normal. As is, it does cause a tiny bit of rear leg spread. I think it's ok especially since my front legs won't peg in, so they're already splayed out anyway. Plus rear feet are on ball pegs which helps too.

Otherwise everything's pretty flush with the kit. I'm able to peg the tail axe completely into the gut gun so there's no gaps in the top of the cheetah mode like the one seen a page or two back. I will note that everything was pretty tight during the first fitting, which seemed to ease up afterwards. So YMMV there.

Decent kit, paint matching is good as is the paint in general, but the kit could have been a perfect fit with just a hair tweak here and there. I see what needs to be shaved too, it's the outer lip of the bottom of the gut gun, but I don't want to bother with paint matching after the shave.

TLDR: I'm ok with the gut gun upgrade kit.

 

I'm actually working on this to correct the problem with this kit.
Just need a bit more sanding, might try to give the fur part the same relief effect as it is on the figure, then paint.
I also want to give him a foldable handle so it doesnt looks like he's in mating season... but so far, didnt find any suitable part that might do the trick....



Another thing...i'm surprised they didnt do a booster unit kit, this guy is clearly made to emulate his transmetal third form, a future version of the mold? An abandoned feature?

 

Sooo done, managed to make the most accurate pale yellow and mid yellow to finish the paints apps, tried to stay in the "factory finish" idea so didnt overdone into details etc

The gun kit now fit perfectly without hindering the alt mode and the handle doesnt look as phalique as it was originally.

To be honest the yellow is awfull color to match in paint..i wont do another one....

 

I've heard about the neck hinge cracking on some people's copies- is it common, and how do I keep this from happening to mine? Mine has a small stress mark on the hinge, though I'm not sure if it appeared before or after I did the mod on tfwiki to prevent the actual neck from breaking.

 

They should make the tab stronger or don’t even bother putting it there if it’s gonna break. You need to do better quality control Hasbro

 

Does tfsafari still have that gut gun? Link please if so?

 

I read in tfwiki that the tab issue was fixed in later releases. Do you know if thats true?
