Not AGAIN!!! Wuargh! I'd be cool with that, if you could reassemble them yourself, but they pin everything these days
I don’t know about great, but I liked Cheetor and Tigatron here seems to fix just about everything that was holding Cheetor back.
While I think he looks a bit too similar to Cheetor, I think that might be a fault of the character design from the beginning rather than this toy specifically. I think maybe they could have done a bit more to differentiate them, though. Robot mode looks pretty good. He integrates the animal parts better than Cheetor did. He does make me think 'larger Cheetor done better' rather than Tigatron, but the characters have always shared design elements. ( Edit- taking another look at the pictures I take that back. This is a fine representation of Tigatron's robot mode. I think it's the pelvis and shoulders that gives me the 'larger Cheetor' feel, as they share those elements, but that's accurate to their designs.) Beast mode... not so much. It isn't awful -they do beef him up a bit - but he looks way too gaunt for a tiger. Agent Ravage (another guy who looks good in robot mode and actually shows a robot who turns into a cat can look different) had similar issues in his jaguar form. That gaunt look serves Cheetor well, since cheetahs are slim streamlined animals. Interestingly while I think many would consider Cheetor the weakest of the WFC cat-bots shown so far (including Ravage) I think his beast form works the best. Overall, I think Tigatron a pretty decent figure. Glad they included the gun, although the beast integration should have been better. Cheetor wasn't made to have a gut gun, yet the third party kit creator was able to make one that integrates better than this does, while being far from perfect. (The second gun not so much. That basically fits underneath like a big willy blaster like this does but I don't see that as his main weapon, so I'm less fussed about beast storage.) Beast weapons storage has always been better with some beasts than others though, Primal*,.Megatron, Dinobot and Scorpnok's being excellent (Cheetor and Tigatron too if you just include the tail weapons) the rest, just -'plug on somewhere or don't bother'. Tigatron's is very much in the latter category. Tail whip weapon is kinda rubbish. What kind of damage would that do against enemy robots?- "Ooh stoppit mean kitty, dat stings!' At least Cheetor's has a mean pick-axe thing going on. I'm glad they didn't just copy Cheetor's weapon though. I guess it works better if you consider it a tool rather than a weapon, something he can lash onto something and pull it, or swing around maybe. Overall- it's okay, but I think it could have been better. Good enough to add to collection, but really wish the tiger form was closer to the box art. Possibly not possible with the allocated budget though. *The missile launchers and blasters anyway. Swords remain external on his back, but as a gorilla is a rather humanoid creature, with hands the swords actually don't look bad that way if you want to leave them there.
It also won't combine, but once you've got an organic lion mould to work with, it opens up a wealth of other redeco opportunities.
I don't think that's a very controversial opinion. Personally, I think Cheetor (particularly with the Netflix paint apps) has the best beast mode of any organic beast TF in the franchise's history.
Me too. I was someone who was already going to write off the Beasts as I was only really interested in G1. But I've got every Beast in Kingdom so far, and aside from Rhinox I love them all!
Closely examining my Cheetor, if Tigatron is similar, you can't fix that. The front of the shoulders is a solid molded piece that doesn't turn or rotate, so assuming Tigatron's shoulders work similarly, Tigatron's shoulders were intentionally molded reversed from Cheetor. There is just no way (on Cheetor, so probably on Tigatron too) to change the triangular detail from the inner side of the shoulder to the outer side of the shoulder (or the other way, out to in).
I think Beast Megatron would vi for that, but Cheetor is up there, certainly. Yes I guess most criticism I see is of his robot mode. I think the other cat-bots fail in looking like Jaguar/cheetah or tiger/cheetah hybrids rather than the actual cats they’re meant to be. Understandable in Ravage’s case being a deluxe who would share some Cheetor parts, although actually not that much, going by the robot mode. Tigatron being a voyager, I’d hope they’d do a bit more. It’s mainly beast mode back end, to be fair, largely the belly, although I see they’ve made effort to thicken the legs, which is good. Heh, each time I look at him I seem to like him more.
Airazor's bot mode is cool, but I like the colors shown on her box art a lot better than the colors on the figure. It's the best mode that is majorly compromised. I mean I know it's hard to engineer a figure that can be 100% alt mode and 100% bot mode when both modes have such different color schemes. Cheetor's alt mode really is awesome, I can agree to that. I also truly his bot mode from the waist up. It's the waist down that has led me to putting him up on eBay...lol. But there's been enough complaining about K Cheetor's legs so I'm not trying to get that going again. Just wondering, what don't you like about Rhinox? I'm considering getting that figure.
This is KINGDOM Tigatron, so he pouts to show you that he means business and that his cartoon is for mature adults. Not him, but Rhinox is just straight up fiddly and complex in a un-fun way. Feels like a ROTF toy that ended up time-displaced into 2021.
Yeah, I was thinking about that. The designer must have lost track of orientation while making the CAD file. And honestly, that makes me feel better knowing I can’t do anything about it.
