I’m no expert. But it seems to me that prices overall have taken off since I got into 3p figures. Hastak MPs are selling for prices far beyond what earlier versions of the same characters, or of similar size figures (such as carbots) sold for. Most 3p figures seem to have followed suit. Yeah, you can find examples like the recent MMC Optimus figure where prices seem more in line with older prices, or seem like a lot more value for the buck. But those prices seem like outliers these days. If you want to stick to those few releases, more power to you. But I suspect you aren’t going to find a figure of this size and presumed quality much cheaper than this anytime soon.

MMC has said that Pexus' price was promotional (to celebrate 10 years and 50 figures in reformatted... or something, I'm no expert). Reissues of Pexus will cost a similar amount but the red and perhaps other colors will not be painted. Also, as I've said before - it's hard to judge price-points based on new figures. Pexus was more expensive than some other MMC figures of similar size with limited accessories (granted, he's WAY more complex).

Also, MMC Helion is $90 on reissue vs $74 (+21%) originally and MMC Saltus is $140 vs $130 (+7%) originally based on available prices from ShowZ. I bet the differences might be greater with PO prices on original releases.

There are definitely random examples here and there. I think a good one that @divinecomedy has brought up before is GCreation Sixshot which was reissued in multiple paint jobs for the same original price. There are others as well, but the big players have all upped their prices (except Zeta).

There's really no way to know exactly what factors are contributing most to increased cost without seeing some books, but there's no denying that prices are going up.

No, i actually don't..."bruised fee-fees" is not a phrase i've ever encountered before your post.

    And i'm not wrong, either.

PlanetX solicited a price and then increased it after the fact. That's a pricing structure \ strategy which few 3P have adopted. They are trying to move into the Premium Pricing model, and doing it in a shitty way by bouncing it off buyers after they've already bought into the product at a lower price. A minority of 3P do this, and it's usually because of delays in production and too early pre-orders (FT).

TT set a price and people pay it. When did they ever say "hey, Optimus Prime is $200. HAHAHA FOOLS. It's actually $350!!!, thanks for the pre-order". Never. When have MMC done that? I must have missed it. XTB hasn't either, have they? I mean they switched accessories into a separate purchase for one release, so i guess it kind of counts?

Sure, prices might be slightly up across the board. But soliciting at one price and then increasing that price quickly after is not something widely done. PX are in the minority with this approach.

This was what you said about price. Keep defending that same point, don't move the goalpost.

How is this compatible with your first comment, exactly?

I've said that I don't think that increasing announced prices is a good idea. Our argument was never about that, as I would never defend that move. See here:

You know what a pricing structure is, right? It's an approach and\or strategy to pricing products and in this example (PX Cacus), their approach is to set a pre order price, then increase it. PX is in the minority for doing that, as i said. That was the point of my post - FT can \ could \ would do that shit because people will just pay it, regardless, then beg for more. Can PX do it? We'll see. If they'd just come out with "yeah this is $220" then people wouldn't have cared.

The whole PX Cacus thing is not about being "expensive", it's about jacking the price after an initial solicit. Which we both agree is a shitty move.

You can have an industry where prices are creeping up in general, and within that still have companies who "bait and switch" on price - they are different things. How many other 3ps are doing the same approach as setting a pre-order pricing then jacking it? Pretty much none, hence PX is in the minority.

    Case closed.

    This.

If you want to pay whatever the price for stuff is then good for you. If you think it's too much and aren't getting it then that's a good personal decision too.

Why did you change your argument from "PX is in the minority for raising prices" to "rising announced prices is bad"?

Those are two totally separate arguments.

Nobody is arguing in favor of raising announced prices, so you're just talking to yourself there.

Whatever, I'm done with this. You haven't added any information to back your original position.

    This.
Let's back to review how should Cacus transform, how accurate he should look, or how much die cast he need. We need the best quality figure for Cacus. The best that Planet X can deliver.

I think we can agree on that.

I didn't...so me too. Maybe i am not good at articulating my thoughts, and that is fine. PX said "here is the price" and then suddenly "but now THIS is the price".

That was my original position...it's a bold move and jacking the price after an initial solicit is a minority practice, which is what i meant.

The latter quote must've been written by an alien then. Whatever, I'll drop it if you can move past it.
