Oh man! I was hoping that we'd get a Nightbird from Arcee - it's only logical after the various repaints they've done before... wasn't expecting it so quick though!
Dammit Takara, stop being so quick with the releases, I'm struggling to keep up.

 

We’re 55 entries into this line and yet one of THE major characters of G1 STILL gets blatantly ignored by Takara in favor of worthless one-shot characters that don’t even transform. WHY?!?

Can't wait to see more pics, would look pretty sick next to MP36 and MP52 as others have said.
Was glad when TT moved away from silver paint on MP's but I may pick this up as Im envisioning a beautiful G1 Destron toon shelf!

Who'd have thunk 2021 would be the real year of the Decepticons ha.. Can you Imagine if we get a Galvatron or Astrotrain announcement too?

 

Now I know what to do with my spare ER Arcee. Unless hasbro wants to do me a solid and make Nightbird from ER Arcee officially.

 

Just realized those are throwing stars next to the extra face plate. I thought it was a piece for the faceplate and then realized that their was 2 of them.

Using her Legends appearance, is possible to tie her to a couple of BW figures, so maybe that announcement could be following this. The LG comics were bananas, it would be cool to see them homages some in the stock/magazine photos.Playing the Kevin Bacon game toon- wise you could tie her to a possible Mirage or Bomshell reveal. Reading the TFwiki synopsis there were some pretty good lines in her episode. 

 

Because Takara has a mold for Arcee and would like to get some mileage out of it? Make a quick buck or buy some time for the next big release?
You can pick one or come up with your own reason.

 

I really don't know what the MP design philosophy is anymore...first Skids with a sort of hybrid 2.0 version that kind of doesn't really fit anywhere and now a repaint of Arcee as Nightbird? Straight out of the mainline...pure CHUGsterpiece! I guess it will make money which is obviously the highest priority and I am not hating on it for those that like it, I'm sure it will be a fun toy as Arcee is great! However it really doesn't fit an MP collection. Aside from the obvious that Nightbird is not a transformer and does not have a vehicle mode, it's also not at all screen accurate and much too short. Nightbird should be at least as tall as Starscream going by her cartoon appearance.

Oh well easy pass for me but I'll be happy to look at cool pics from those who buy it! Do we have any idea when it might be out?

Out of all possible repaints, surprised there's only one of Shockwave (the +). No Galaxy Man variant. Or a Diaclone Ironhide, either.

As a matter of fact, no Steeljaw from Nighstalker.....

 

They took MP Cheetor and reworked him in to Shadow Panther, who only existed in the JP toyline. So this isn't a first. Won't be the last, either. And, as with Shadow Panther, there's precedent for a Nightbird from Arcee. Legends did it alongside Windblade -> Slipstream and Animated Blackarachnia -> BW Black Arachnia.

And both have something in common: Black repaints.

 

Hard skip for me, but interesting to note because this means we've had two unique molds and three repaints from Takara this year, with us knowing about Nightbird (possibly this year to round us to four repaints/retools), Skyfire, and Raiden. I'm guessing between Raiden and the pandemic, it's slowed them down a good bit in terms of design and release of new molds.

 

I’m starting to see this kind of like Loudpedal. It’s a remold to get some extra cash for TT and also fill out the Decepticon ranks a bit. But this time instead of a Diaclone toy for inspiration they went with Nightbird. An odd choice for sure but they’re most likely thinking that this is a much more appealing option than the medic repaint. But I’m sure that will happen as well.

 

Takara is basically like The Rolling Stones. They see an Autobot and want to paint it black.

 

It's the quickest way to my wallet.

 

Masterpiece toys are overwhelmingly pre-Movie toys that turn into real-world designs. There are 3 TFTM characters and Star Saber alongside umpty-bazillion Diaclone guys.

 

I was talking to a friend about this yesterday and it's really quite interesting.

We both hope this leads to a redeco or retool of MP-52 Starscream as Slipstream. I don't know if she's appeared in G1 as a Seeker recolor like she did in Cyberverse, but I think it'd make a great Masterpiece figure.

 

I’d be all over a MP Slipstream!

Nightbird didn't get made "instead of Galvatron". ARCEE did, Nightbird is just her cheap retool.
