Yeah it's interesting to say the least, I've had this problem on McF or Hasbro figures, anyway damage done no choice but to paint it now, long as he's dry, I soaked and bathed the heck out of him in warm soapy water and scrub the crap out of him so hopefully there's no more external damage to worry about, I don't think I have to worry about inside but if he falls apart I'll just order another one.
Just so I’m totally clear on this, scareglow is getting a regular release down the line right? So no need for me to be sweating over my keyboard at noon today ?
Cringer got mange(sp) What's truly baffling though is that the green discolored but the stripes stayed
Yeah, but we've only seen a leaked listing for it. No idea how different it's going to be from this release.
My Walmart put out the display today. The only figure gone when I saw it was a MossMan. Otherwise totally full.
Very weird that the green came off but the yellow stripes didn't. Looks like the plastic melted some too.
I was thinking the same. But, I recently tried to clean some paint splotches off of a Star Wars figure using all manner of different solvents…acetone was the last resort, and it did nothing to the paint, much to my surprise. Acetone is often the nuclear option when it comes to taking stuff off of plastic. I still have a couple more things I want to try; will let you guys know if I find one that works.
Huh, I had no idea all of that black was actually translucent. I think I’d appreciate this version of the figure more if the plastic was more obviously translucent - as it is it just looks like black plastic to me. And just the head glows?? A glowing disembodied skull in the dark is pretty cool but I’m definitely waiting this one out to see what the standard version is like. Super cool packaging though.
Oh shit! California is only 3 hours behind us on the east coast? I thought it was 4. So 9:00 am pacific to be would be 11:00am eastern.
Here’s what I tried and what I found on my SW figure: Acetone: no effect 91% Isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol): no effect Xylene: removed the paint and dulled the plastic (note that the plastic was a soft plastic armor part…xylene MAY not affect hard plastics the same way…test in an inconspicuous spot first). Odorless Mineral Spirits: no effect Denatured Alcohol…plus elbow grease: removed the paint after a lot of rubbing; did not affect the plastic
I have only used Acetone twice ever, in both cases it ruined pieces. Something I have used a few times with some success: I have used clear nail polish to remove tampographs and some paint apps from WWE figures. Apply the clear nail polish, leave for a few seconds and remove with a used T-shirt.
Interesting…. Ethyl acetate is the solvent used in nail polish (or at least the primary solvent). It is sold in the U.S. (and probably other places) under the Klean Strip brand name as “MEK Substitute”. I might have to go pick some up.
i have used acetone in all my customs when i need to get down to the base and this is the 1 time it didn't work and had this type of reaction, if you follow any of my customs, i can guarantee you i used acetone on them with no ill effect
