I’d like to be the first to say, I wish with all my heart it is good, but I know by the two previous chapters it won’t be. Be it bad voice directing, miscasting of decent actors, or poor writing, Earthrise and Siege were very disappointing, but thats only because I had such high hopes for them.

I think perhaps, while many people share my thoughts and expectations towards Kingdom, whats really the worst is that another audience, the Beast Wars kids, who finally get to see their childhood characters return in full force, might have their dreams crushed with this.

Maybe somehow they’ll pull it all together and make something good, maybe this show will introduce more good things then it does bad. Maybe BW kids will have a moment that makes it all worth it for them… I want to hope, I want to believe too, but I don’t.

    Siege was shit.

    Earthrise was also shit.

And to the shock of (hopefully) nobody: Kingdom is probably gonna be shit too. This trilogy is literally just a repeat of the Machinima trilogy with a bigger budget and a longer runtime, which probably makes this trilogy worse than the Machinima stuff in retrospect because at least it was over sooner and didn't drag... on... for... over... several.. hours....

I know I'm probably supposed to love this because of all the Beast Wars nostalgia bait but unfortunately for Hasbro I have standards and don't just forget what good writing looks like.

I'm genuinely dreading this after how painful it was to get through the first two shows, but hey if I somehow turn out to be mistaken I'll gladly eat my words, but I doubt I'll have to. Having to eat some crow would be worth it if it meant we got something of value again.

I know there's apparently yet another trilogy of toys planned but can we at least stop with the garbage shows already?

I assume I'll have to watch these at 125% or 150% speed to get them to sound like actual dialogue as I did with the prior series and... not... just... speaking... slowly... to... fill... time... with... no... gravitas... to... any... word... or... sentence.

    Calling it now.

The next trilogy, “Legacy”, is supposed to be a mix of many characters from throughout the Transformers multiverse(ala Universe 1.0). I bet the end of this show helps to set that next trilogy and how the next toyline will be an “Evolution” from whats come before.

I wonder if Megatron\'s gonna be an emo teen instead of the positive leader who is always going YESSSS
I\'m not being a nostalgia purist here, just my thoughts lol.

This was a very polite review way of saying this was mediocre. But I dunno why there is even a Spoiler warning because nothing was really spoiled, the episode recaps barely tell us anything.

Pretty much as expected. I will likely not watch it anytime soon because we have tons of content coming out tomorrow - Batman Long Halloween Part 2, MOTU Revelations, Snake Eyes... this will be something I might put in the background as I try to transform my WFC Unicron (who I bet is sir-not-appearing-in-this-film here, not much more than a cameo because I really doubt they have a budget to have him transform).

I went in with only positive thoughts on siege and earthrise, and I liked them, I\'ll do the same for kingdom. I have no problems with the trilogy at all none.

Quick question if you're allowed to answer this Tony, does the 6 episode season end up making things feel rushed or does the season flow like a long movie?

Yeah. That's not gonna happen with what they concocted in this trilogy.
Hasbro needs to stop playing to the nostalgia in the sense of ticking those boxes: "We got Optimus and Megatron, they're voiced by the G1 guys, we got Ratchet and Wheeljack, Optimus says: One shall stand, Starscream tries to take over from Megatron..."
This is the kinda shit that made such a mess of the last Star Wars trilogy.
What they should do is start focusing on creating engaging stories that have what made Transformers so popular in the first place at heart.
And you just don't get that by making sure you're giving gatekeepers what they want.
You do that by trying to remember what got kids excited when they saw the cartoons and saw and played with the toys.

Why does the writing in every franchise these days feel like bad fan fiction?

Cause it usually is, or it's from people who lived in those circles and wrote that stuff.

I got into a little argument on YouTube over a Youtuber saying they would only buy the toys if they like the show (Masters if the Universe) and I responded that if you are interested in buying the toys, buy them if you think the toys are good and don’t buy them if you think the toys are not good. You shouldn’t rely on the tv show being good or bad to dictate whether you buy the toys or not.

I like the WFC toys but I don’t like the WFC show. I liked Cyberverse season three, but I don’t like the toys. If I followed the YouTubers logic I would be spending money on things I don’t like and missing out on things I do like.

Not the youtuber in question, but another viewer responding to my response to the video -

Well, this as I suspected. Such a shame they didn't put the requisite amount of time, effort, money, talent and creativity into it.

Fanfiction as a whole has some issues, but it also has some benefits and so long as you filter out the crazies & the sickos (and perhaps avoid crossovers), Then it's often better written than official media as they understand the characters - the problem sometimes is a problem IDW shares which is the desire to re-write the characters entirely to fit the story they want to tell - rather than just use a different character.

As for the whole G1 thing - well considering how the cartoon rights are mixed up with Sony and others, and how the comics are VERY different they can likely only do broad brush G1 and not make an actual sequel or off shoot. Besides think on this if you are basing something of the G1 cartoon (if they were even able to do that legally) then most of the characters people like have long since died or disappeared and that is even without the whole issue of the Japanese continuity.

So I think it's best if people don't get their hopes up on anything other than "Based on G1" - or in this case based on 'Beast Wars'.

But yes the comentator is right to point out the flat lifeless animation, lousy dub-timing and general low energy nature of the Netflix shows is something they need to work on... Perhaps next time they need to make a good show 1st and take a year or 2 off to allow it to be properly baked.

That said the Cyberverse Animation didn't offend me the dub timing and energy levels was perfectly fine on that show... I just only had "so much" investment in it - being what it was.

As for Multiverses - nah just tell a good story and make sure it's well acted don't need to be following any "Trends" here.
