Wow Hasbro. I was mulling over picking up the already overpriced Seacons, and Hasbro bumped up the prices on most (but not all?) of them literally within the last 48 hours:



The Deluxes went from $34.99 to $36.99, while the Voyager went from $55.99 to $62.99. I was already hesitant to pull the trigger on these figures given they were literally double the cost of the Terrorcons they're based off of, but now I refuse to reward bumping up their prices even higher. It's a real shame.

They also bumped up Abominus to $199.99 from the ~$185 it was previously:



I guess they're expecting an increase in new customers with SDCC and hoping to squeeze more cash?

 

Ugh, Ravage at $53 is reallyyyy pushing it for a delixe that barely transforms and a G1 Cassette in fancy packaging.

I'll probably get it, but I will complain all the way!!   

 

Shipping from overseas has gone up in price, hence the reason for the increases, and the Seacons were more expensive than the original Terrorcons because they're imports from Takara and not actually Hasbro product.

 

I was aware of the fact that these are imports, but this also appears to be a part of a broader price increase on Hasbro Pulse. All of the leaders are now $52.99 where they were $49.99, and voyagers $31.99 from $29.99, and this is within the past 48 hours.

EDIT - Also core figures bumped from $9.99 to $10.99, and the Netflix spoiler pack bumped from $59.99 to $62.99. So basically all Transformers had their prices bumped on Hasbro Pulse.

 

For fucks sake, Hasbro.

This. Plus, these are so retooled and reshelled that while they may be based on the Terrorcons, they're pretty much brand new figures. There are a lot of new pieces on here and the hands and feet are brand new molds as well. Too many people think like you and get the wrong impression of these figures. Had they been simple repaints or something along those lines, I could see your complaint but after having them in hand...no. These are worth the asking price. You can skip 'em if you want, but late tax will bite you in the butt later if you decide to go after them down the road. Guess it'll be a teachable moment then, won't it?

 

That price increase most likely relates to the rising cost of shipping goods from overseas.

Well. I was going to get that Ravage set. Now...not so much.

Still in for the remaining two seacons at the increased price, but everything else? No.

 

I'll probably still going to buy Ravage but I'm incredibly disappointed as there's no other way to obtain him and they know it. They know it. I don't like that they're holding us hostage on items like him. Unicron was bad enough (no, people, calm down... Not getting into that discussion. Just a point of reference.) now this? I mean Pudgy Pig jumped over $15.00 and Ravage is just... *smh*

I have been debating Abominus, still am. With this price increase and I have heard bad QC reports don't know if he is worth it.

 

I have eyes. I can see that they have new accessories, and I can tell that they're retooled (The PotP Terrorcons themselves are mostly retools so that doesn't seem like a great argument in favor of the price difference). That being said, I already accepted that they cost more because of not only the retooling, but also the limited release, the smaller audience, and the import cost. It doesn't change the fact that I was already on the fence due to the price, and the price bump kind of made the decision for me.

I get the raw material costs are going up, but I can still be frustrated that these are becoming less affordable. At the end of the day, toys are luxury items, and this is an unpleasant reminder of that fact.

 

Yeah, was expecting Decepticons Forever Ravage set to be 40 at best, 50 at worst.

Is anyone still going to buy them?

 

Me. I'm buying all the Pulsecon exclusives. Haven't seen one yet I've been disappointed in. Prices went up but compared to what I used to have to pay to get SDCC exclusives, this is still worth it to me.

 

I'll still buy the 3 I want. But I wonder if this means anything about their limit.

 

I'll be getting Ravage, granted he's the only exclusive I wanted anyway.

Rising prices suck, but they're a fact of life. Complaining about it does nobody any good really.

Why would it? Prices have gone up on everything, and not just exclusives or Hasbro products. Pretty much everything.
