I hope I’m wrong but it looks very similar to er/kingdom Arcee. Maybe retooled but backpack’s folded down bumper looks the same and with Netflix Elita’s shoulders.

 

Yeah it does look similar but if shes not a headmaster whats the point.

 

I thought that was Omega Spreem dropping with Thunderclash & co but it\'s just that news reporter guy from IDW 1.0.

 

I don't dislike the core idea. Stunt team by day ops team by night... it's Pole Position but transformers. But when you use a name like the Wreckers there's an audience expectation. The name brings existing Wreckers fans to the table but ultimately if those fans don't get what they want they'll turn on it almost instantly. So it's a gamble by IDW that readers will stick around. I think by now the world is kinda done with subverting expectations = better.

But I can see why they used the name, if they didn't people would be asking why we need a 4th(?) comic on the go and there seems to be a desire for more Wreckers content... I just think this wreckers in name only might bite them in the ass if it doesn't deliver. Time will tell I guess.

The team itself is fine like for their intended look of a group of entertainers it works.

 

Maybe the happy go lucky comic shot is an illusion to what REALLY happens in the series and its depressing af.  

 

Love the art, might check this out. Hope it doesn't have too much connection to the rest of the current universe.

 

Theres no riding the coat tails of anything. Lsotw would've ridden the coat tails of marvels target 2006 and time wars and just because idw2 are featuring the wreckers doesn't mean it's a retread of last stand.

Their smiley faces makes me think this is a new unit.

The tagline from 80s movie police academy their first assignment comes to mind lol

 

All of that being said, I don't think they need to do have this be a separate book, it could be an arc in something else, I think the trade sales of the Wreckers trilogy, the name recognition and the instant curiosity of a Wreckers book looking happy go lucky are all very intentional factors.

And I find the timing a tad...

Selects Ricochet is the easiest Selects figure to find, I swear. That one's still in stock at a lot of places for about retail price from what I've seen.

 

As a not straight woman personally, I hope that Aileron makes it and goes on to have a bit more of a life of her own beyond Arcee.

That ain't the Wreckers, at least not what they should be.

 

I would lie if I said I wouldn't get hyped about absolutely everything with the word "Wreckers" on the cover.
But I would also lie if said I wouldn't have preferred Roche or the Ruckley/Milne team-up to do it.

I don't agree with those that believe the look might be bait and that they will die, since I higly doubt they will kill female characters. Especially not Aileron. This annoys me a bit. First of all do prefer when you cannot tell who dies who survives, especially not when it's based on gender, secondly I wasn't a fan of Aileron in IDW1 to begin with and she reminds me too much of many of the late parts and tropes I didn't like, so I would have preferred almost everybody else over her.
If the series is supposed to be fun as I assume it is I think a guy like IDW1 Swerve would have been a better choice. Even better if someone else from the team was an actually violent guy. Someone like Impactor would have been perfect, for the sheer comedic chemistry an aggressive potential war criminal and a bunch of good-hearted Wrecker dudes would have provided. It doesn't have to be actually him but someone like that I mean. IDW2 has its fair share of violent fembots too, so that would an option as well.

I will buy it regardless. I like Wreckers and Lawrence's art and I am curious to see Mariotte writing a thing. Think he never did this before. As lone writer I mean.

 

Using the exact same font for the title as used for the titles of the Wreckers Saga is a choice. Hope it can live up to its predecessor.

I’ll probably just reread Roche’s Wreckers though.

 

I mean Hot Shot shouldn't be a Jeep, but...
