Don't know if anybody would be interested in something like this, but I noticed there wasn't a weapons storage appreciation thread.

I know a lot of us appreciate good or creative weapons storage, and there are many ways for weapons to store on Transformer figures. Some are blatant, and some are very well hidden. And of course, the recent WFC lines have added in a lot of ports for even more options. So whether it's in robot mode or altmode, what are some of your favorites?

I'd say the only rule is it can't be held in the robot's hands.

For starters, I like how Punch/Counterpunch's gun stores safely and flat under his car mode.

And I like storing Strongarm's on her back. This is a more common method for a lot of figures, which makes sense as warriors should be ready to draw their weapons at a moment's notice. And it usually keeps them out of sight pretty well. DSC00480.JPG DSC00711.JPG

Generations Scourge and Classics Optimus Prime are outstanding in an era with many figures that incorporated (Lambos, Darkmount) or hid (Jazz, Datsuns) their weapons well.

Thanks! Generations has many great examples. The Drift/Blurr mold as well.

    That was very cool.

And even in robot mode, it could clip onto his back so it looks like he's got his rifle hanging on his back.

Well I still think the undisputed king of weapon storage is G1 Soundwave.

My pick is definitely SS57 Off-road Bee with his arm gun perfectly hiding underneath the alt mode and even making it more sturdy in the back! 3E000498-D6F4-4100-A596-FA8CCE9B43B8.jpeg

I like the rifle that folds up and stores into MP-10s backpack, can be kept there in both modes during transformation.

I was going through a bunch of classics to possibly sell and I was getting annoyed at many if their weapons seem to have been misplaced. I am realizing now that most of them were stored with the figure but itd been so long since I'd transformed them I'd completely forgot.

One standout for me in terms of weapon storage is TF4 Movie Advanced Dino (the ROTF Sideways remold). The fact that they managed to create blades that could attach to arms not designed for attachments AND found a place they can mount and store hidden in car mode always impressed me. Sure, the new SS Dino is more accurate all around, I have to give props to the TF4 one for doing a lot with little resources.

Does Reflektor count? Because the genius of turning the three guns into a tripod for the camera is just *chef's kiss*

My favorite type of weapon storage is in robot mode to look like sheathed/holstered/etc weapons, much like how sidearms work.

I always liked how the G2 Laser Rods stored their swords in vehicle mode.

The Armada Seekers had a nice gimmick with the wing folding out to be a sword.

I really like how Titans Return Weirdwolf, Windblade and RID Bludgeon can store their swords on their hips. Bonus points to Windblade for having a scabbard.

The king has to be one of my childhood favourites, a G1 brick, the Triggerbot Override.
I always loved how his chrome particle beam canons flipped out of his arms.

Pretty much every Beast Wars toy from the original line, but I especially like Primal's stowed melee weapons on top of all his flip-out blasters.

Amazing how none of the later iterations have replicated this feature as convincingly as the original.

They all hide away in there.

Could he actually be the Deluxe figure with the most accessories ever?

Huh, this thread popped up right as I've engaged in a back-and-forth discussion about weapon storage in the ER Wheeljack review thread :) . One of my issues with many figures of the modern age is the lack of discreet weapon storage in alternate mode and is part of the reason why I have passed on so many of the latest releases.

Here are a few of my favorite examples of weapon storage off the top of my head:

    1. Generations Drift and his remold Blurr: The weapons store away completely hidden in vehicle mode. In robot mode, Drift's short swords are sheathed in his car doors, and his long sword can be secured to his back. Similarly, Blurr's pistols are holstered in his car doors, and his rifle can be secured to his back.

    2. RotF Buster Optimus Prime: His gun transforms into his fuel tanks.

    3. RotF Sidearm Sideswipe: I love the way his guns store under his roof in vehicle mode.

    4. Sergeant Kup: The rifle hides underneath the truck to become his tailpipe.

    5. RotF Bludgeon: Both of his handheld weapons are really inspired. I love the way his longsword sheaths into the tank turret, with the handle becoming the barrel, and the short sword stowing away cleanly in the turret and the way it is revealed by splitting the turret apart.

I would absolutely count that. That was certainly a stroke of genius.

That was part of the inspiration for me to see if there was an appreciation thread for weapons storage.

Some of the more fun characters for me in terms of weapon storage were the Cyber Key figures from the Cybertron line as most of their weapons were hidden away and only revealed with the key gimmick.

Lugnutz, though, took it further with having an actual weapon that stored as an exhaust pipe. That was cool as it ended up giving him two different weapons to attack with.

Wreck-Gar had some neat weapon storage in his motorcycle mode. Like Lugnutz, it's a nice integration of his weapon into not just the exhaust pipe, but into part of the tire as well. Brilliant. DSC00334.JPG
