...Right, I completely forgot that her G1 incarnation was female. All the more reason for her to get another toy. One that scales with the new Dinobots rather than the POTP ones.
I love this! I would totally buy *NEW* G1 style Dinobots to add to the team. Throw in an Ankylosaurus, and maybe another to make a trio. Sign me up!
Still waiting for some of the new figures got all the SS 86 wave one and no bayverse so it's gonna take a while for me to get the new waves
I honestly don’t mind the surface detailing on the SS86 Dinobots… I love both figures to death, but their animation models border on bland-looking, with how blocky and flat they are. They definitely don't rank among the more interesting Sunbow designs. IMO, the greebling on Grimlock and Slug is tastefully done, and helps break up the otherwise blocky designs. Had Hasbro gone with 100% G1 accuracy, they likely would've turned out pretty boring-looking.
I can say the same especially with them changing Grimlock chest from yellow to a soft gold, to me it makes it look so much better than just a flat yellow, sure it ain’t accurate but it looks great
and they just threw some shit on greebled to hell WFC Starscream and called it SS86 seems like the Dinos were meant to be WFC, but Jazz, Scourge, and the others were really meant for SS86
All of SS86s 1st wave (maybe even 1st 2 waves) were developed as WFC figures before getting shunted to Studio Series
Yeah some of those guys were gonna be in kingdom before BW took over their slots. SS86 is a nice accommodation for them anyway.
Slag is in the 2nd "wave" of SS86, which also includes Gnaw, who started life as a design developed for the WFC Earthrise fan vote. How we know that SS86 was originally WFC designs is multipronged. 1. Leakers have said as much 2. It's logical considering Scourge/Sweeps, Kup, Blurr, Hot Rod, Wreck-Gar, Dinobots and Jazz are in SS86 (alongside WFC ER Starscream with accessories as King Starscream) and then in Kingdom you have Galvatron, Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus and Cyclonus. All of these figures are intended to go together, hence why the SS86 stuff isn't all smooth surfaces.
I feel like regardless of which line the Dinobots were intended for, Hasbro would’ve added the greebling in either case. Heck, all the other SS86 releases have a healthy amount of mechanical detailing and panel lines as well. Replicating cheaply-drawn 2D animation models into plastic toy form with 100% accuracy isn’t exactly the best idea.
I have no idea. Perceptor and Sweep sold out on Hasbro Pulse the first day, but then again so did Coronation Starscream that has greebling all over.
