That is a fine toothed comb you use to identify there. It's the right shape of jet, with the right colors, and the robot/kibble shakes out to broadly looking like his.

Oh man, that is sexy. Love the design, and I can't wait to see more of this set. However, I do agree with previous comments that painting the head in a more G1 fashion would really help sell the idea that it's Slingshot.
Still think he looks great, and that little fault isn't enough to keep me away.

If someone posted a picture of just the robot mode and nothing more, I would have no idea it was Slingshot.

If someone posted an image of all of the original limb Aerialbots in that same color scheme, I would probably have difficulty sorting out which was which. Beyond their colors, they weren't very distinct in robot mode, and their decos were arguably not differentiated enough even in G1.

I personally don't think the deco on Slingshoot is final-product accurate in those photos. It's almost like greyscale with some red added-- pretty basic. I could be wrong, but even just adding orange to the head does wonders for bringing out "Slingshot".

With seeing how great and awesome this figure/combiner looks I would love to see a Bruticus in this design style with his military vehicles/parts like Superion. I think he would fit in great with this style really well (maybe even better than the other combiners that they could do after Superion)

If I asked you, assuming you to be a talented artist, to draw a picture that most could identify as Slingshot you wouldnt be able to do it because hes a minor ancillary character, I daresay most dont even know which of the jets he is supposed to be.

    Ok, wow!

no idea if I’ll get them all- I had no interest in getting superion. But this guy is fantastic. Definitely getting him and we’ll play it by ear beyond that.

Love to see this. Stuff like this is how 3rd Party is going to survive - inspired, creative takes on characters that push our interpretations of them to the next level. No disrespect to folks who are firmly planted in the G1/cartoon aesthetic, but that is only going to sustain the franchise but so far, and there are only going to be so many figures based on those designs made before the market stagnates. Imaginative offerings like this is going to give fans a choice which ultimately lifts all boats. Or planes.

This is what I think of when I'd want a live action movie Superion and Aerialbots. However, I don't like the head at all. It doesn't look right for Transformers. It looks too much like something from Capcom.

The Bayverse designs looked like something that would be made from organic metal. Going G1 wouldn't be right on a figure this technical.

I hate to say it, but I'm in the same boat. Normally I wait for a combiner to be complete to make sure there're no issues with the figures and combine mode. And I generally don't like having just one member of a combiner team. But I may end up springing on this guy just because he looks awesome.

    “die-cast metal frame”

i’m really excited about this guy, but am i the only one concerned about how the combined joints are going to be since it has to support all that additional weight on the limbs?

Very good point. At 50cm with every member having a diecast frame and no partsforming?

This thing needs SOLID ratchets on joints.
Even then, I'm worried now. FansToys hasn't done it in 3 years of combiner partsforming R&D...

Is this a Bayverse inspired Superion? Because I could get behind those types of 3P concepts.

Might be the angle, but hopefully that awkward curve in the fuselage gets resolved in the final design. Otherwise, loving what we see so far. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Colors would go a long way.

I'm probably not the best person to ask since Slingshot was my first G1 combiner l owned and my favorite design. To me, his orange head, visor, white and red colors and skinny arms differentiated him from the other Aerialbots.

It's interesting, but there are significant problems which make this a never purchase. The head is totally wrong, if you're going to get the head wrong really don't bother. Our fandom is past that at this point, no settling. We aren't looking for more people like Michael Bay who don't care at all about what we care about. If it's Slingshot, make it Slingshot. This is just Harrier guy.

Second issue is the panel joints on the wings. When are these companies going to realize this looks much better with the realism when they aren't differently colored from the rest of the wing? This is a huge complaint for me with TFC and even Hasbro on some MP seekers, and you see it again here. It's dumb and shows no planning ability no understanding of the point of realistic vehicle modes.

As some have noted, it doesn't appear the nosecone sits at the proper angle either. Pretty underwhelming show here!

You cant tell me this figure wouldnt look cool in black and red or blue and gold. I mean seriously, the only thing Slingshot about this is the colors.
