?

Do you think this new product could be stepping away from what we love about Transformers as toys?

Oh-Kay… why did they decide to keep the truck lights on behind his hands on his forearms while he’s in bot mode…? It looks ridiculous unless that’s an option you can turn off…

    For f**ks sake:banghead:

I tell you what though, I would laugh and be kind of impressed if after 35 years,
Hasbro announces at PulseCon they're renaming this brand "The Converters" :lol
Maybe they factions will get renamed "Carbots" and "Dishonestcons"

Seriously though, how could they drop the ball here?
Am I missing something? Does saying the word "Transform" to a robot
cause it to explode or something??? Sigh.

I don't think it's being petty (also apologies for not reading previous posts before posting my last one),
when this is the most expensive "converting" Optimus Prime ever released (*because ULTIMETAL also exists),
doing anything half-assed I think is unacceptable. Besides, they're selling this to adults (not kids--to be generous,
maybe fathers and sons... but not just kids), who have probably been fans for 35 years looking for that ultimate
"showpiece", and I don't think I'm alone when I say that if I bought this, and had it in my house to show off to some friends
who came over, and was like "hey guys, check this out; 'Optimus Prime, Convert!!' " my friends, if they had any knowledge
of Transformers, would be like, "uhh, what the f**k are you doing, don't you mean Transform???"

    C'mon Hasbro...

Also, that stuff in that article about the trademark sounds like bullshit to me.
If they have the trademark, then they should use the hell out of it, show the marketplace how much they own it,
and if they're serious about it, then anytime some competitor puts "transform" on the box, they could sue.
That's how the free market economy/capitalism works   This is also Marketing 101--everytime they say
"Convert" they're actually undermining their brand value, and creating a mixed message from a customer behavior perspective.

welcome to to transformers they’ve been using the word convert and change or even “robot to -insert altmode-“ on packaging and instructions for over a decade(nearly 2) now and it’s been explained literally one page before this

At 5:05 The reviewer says, “If you say change form or something that rhymes with change form, he will convert.”

I may be mistaken, but doesn’t that mean that you can say “transform” Optimus will then transform?

I was under the impression they put the word “convert” in the instructions instead of “transform”, but the word transform will still work. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

I wonder who this is even for, especially at that price. What a waste of materials.

My guess is that they know most people are going to say "transform" instead of convert but for the legal reasons mentioned in this thread they just don't advertise it.

Completely unrelated, but that transformation got me thinking. In the last fifteen years, there have been only twenty-four Optimus Primes released where the vehicle mode grill becomes the abdominal grill rather than hiding on the back. Five of those were from Animated, seven from Rescue Bots, two from Prime, five from RiD 2015, two from Generations, and the remaining three from Cybertron, Universe, and Kre-O. Considering how many Optimi there are, that's much fewer than I was expecting!

As I recall shortly after it was first revealed, it was confirmed you could say either convert or transform. Just all of the official material says convert. Not sure why Sharktimus couldn't say it though.

Once the novelty of self-transforming (or self converting) wears off, and it will, you will be left with an Optimus that looks clunky next to even a Cyberverse toy.  Meanwhile, Lewin has a display presence that will never get old.

It's a huge, motorized, animated, interactive, voice activated, transforming, customizable, remote controlled, Optimus Prime. Back in the day, this thing would have been in every single FAO Schwarz, and we all would have spent hours messing with it. None of our parents would have bought it, but we would have visited the store just to see and talk to it. :lol

Well now that I see all that it can do... I simply must have. Going to need to offload some stuff to make this sizeable purchase right in my financial part of my brain.
