You're kidding right? People have been complaining and saying the masterpieces don't count, that it has to be a mainstream wide release and supermarket price, while still being the same masterpiece quality figure. They won't stop until everything is just sunbow accurate g1.

 

Will that hurt more or less than one of them being an exclusive? I'm pretty sure there's a "heroic nonsense" tooling on the mold anyway, so it might just suck to be you either way

Welp, guess their just going to have face reality one day (maybe in their 80s) and realize the high price 1:1 toon accurate versions of these character.

Although it seems to be mostly with season 1 characters. Season 2 and on characters are easier (and look better with the toon aesthetic imo) to make since they're closer to the toys.

Except for Kup. Poor Kup.

 

Yeah, poor Kup, still trying to find a Kup figure that actually looks good (not even G1 accurate, just not ass) for my display.

 

It's slightly taller than it should be, but i wouldn't say it makes the rest of the figure "ass"

 

I didn't forget about Siege Skywarp. Unlike the others, at the time of his release he was easy to get, and all preorders were able to be filled. He only became difficult to obtain months after his release. More importantly, his iconic form did get an Earthrise release and rerelease, and that's the one most fans are more interested in. It's not that I object to him getting a re-release (despite the obscene price I paid for mine), just that it wasn't a figure that was screwed over by distribution problems. Personally (as I have said before) I'd just love a re-release in proper SkyWarp colors.

I don't know what the deal is with Ironhide. When WFC piqued my curiosity I picked him up at WalMart. It was still a few months before I finally jumped back into collecting (Jan 2020) and I was surprised to see he was considered hard to get even then. At that point I think he was selling for $30-40 on the aftermarket, maybe 6 months after release, while most of the Siege line could be had at cost or discount.

 

His proportions all suck, from the face to the head to the arms to the chest. That's what makes him ass, not the height.


At the very least they did a pretty good job with his alt-mode.

 

@Jtprime17 can you confirm?

 

I wouldn't say SS86 Kup is "ass", but his proportions are wonky as hell. If his arms were thickened to match his giant club fists, as well as his thighs being thicker, he'd be much better.

Also the face sculpt is a swing and a miss. But we all know that. For me it's mostly just too long.

Assuming that was partially aimed at me due to language use, I was simply referring to my general dislike for a majority of G1 Kup figures appearance wise, due to funky proportions or sculpting that even my kibble/messy looking bot loving ass balks at. Think there's just something about his G1 design that doesn't translate well to plastic in my eyes tbh but that's mostly on me and not the toy designers.

 

You know they'd have to do an Instruments of Destruction set with dead, grayed out Autobots.

My understanding is this was just the Modulators as they were dependent on the micromasters, which didn't do well. The fossilizers seem to be doing quite well, and if the weaponizers were unsuccessful I doubt they would have put out two more after Siege ended.
