Huh. That is odd. Maybe Hasbro considers Rescue Bots to be done now that Academy has finished airing?

This Optimus toy feels like a Rescue Bots toy, but its car-carrying gimmick doesn't properly fit RB rescan cars. Which means that the only one that can easily fit into the four compartments is packed in with Optimus - another Bumblebee toy.
Bumblebee wouldn't even count as a Rescan toy as it only has one moving part, which is the chest panel for transformation.
And I think there is a serious miscommunication with the packaging images and instructions when it comes to the chest piece for Optimus. The nose of the plane comes off to reveal a sculpted chest (which you see is how the toy is sold), but the instructions don't tell you to remove it, and the photos on the back of the box fail to remove it too. (see my photos a few posts above this one)

Why have it removable to reveal a robot chest and Autobot symbol and give it a special storage location in one of the wings if it is not to be removed at all.
The first photo is a group shot with some Rescue Bots toys, because it fits best with that design aesthetic.

Just to clarify... the blue ramps on the sides of the robot mode are not the arms, or even part of the arms. They actually hang off the shoulders (you can kinda see it on the photo of the back of the robot mode), and the arms don't even connect to the blue ramps (the arms are actually stuck to the abdomen by black pole and don't even move at all). Another example of gimmick compromising playability. It is a fairly big toy, but I'm really glad I waited for it to go on sale for "just" $49.... and even still, spending that much money on a (smaller) Voyager class toy would have been much better value.

The artwork is lazy too, showing a "truck" version of Optimus, when it should at least show an Optimus with some plane kibble on it... making this toy seem even more like it fits within the vague "Authentics" branding.

Amazing concept, such a shame it's half-assed even for the toddler/kiddie line standards.

Titan Class Jumbo Jet Prime that can carry Deluxes would be such a bonkers figure I'd definitely buy it.

Now I know why original Rescue Bot toys command such a premium. I'd rather pay $30 for a first gen Rescue Bot for my kid, than get most of the new toys. The original toys are built like tanks. These look like they'll break if you look at it wrong. At least I don't see a lot of sharp mold flashing like that big $50 Bumblebee Hasbro put out a few years ago. That thing was an ER trip waiting to happen.

The best big Rescue Bot toy is High Tide. I wish hasbro would get back to dvds again so we can get Rescue Bots on complete series dvd.

I like my bots g1 accurate, but I love the freedom the rescuebots line has to do random stuff. It\'s just about fun.

Breaking new ground on kibble. Car carrier wings. Tiny propellers.

The only positive I see is, yes I'm now ready for CHUG Seaplane Optimus Prime.

My local Walmart had a lot of these Rescue bots on deep clearance price.  Those deluxe? figures were $2.50 and that large bank looking Optimus was $5.  I think they are ready for a reset so I would suggest look at your Walmarts for clearance prices.

Can someone explain the play pattern of this to me? OP transforms. You can store cars in his wings and tail. But that seem like it. I guess you could make 'tracks' for the cars out of his wings?

He just looks bulky and awkward for no reason. It seems like a design that had planned features cut halfway though and the result lost out on whatever it was originally going for. It reminds me of gravity racers where you push a button to unleash them and they zoom down the track. But the pics make it seem like the car would just fall out before you pull the yellow tab out.

5 months later i'm still bummed this wasn't stratosphere or some new plane guy. a giant rescuebots ramp-plane is awesome, but doing it as an ill-fitting optimus dilutes optimus and the potential the idea has.

That is unfathomably dumb. That's the entire point of the toy, to be a storage container that's also a TF! Well, there goes my want of this.

EDIT: Wait, do those smaller Rescue Bots cars fit well into them? Y'know the little racers that you basically just stood up to transform them. He might fit those.

I would have preferred Hasbro make a Decepticon Undersea Base playset. I'd be all over that.

This one... not so much. It was on sale $49 (save $20) at BigW in Australia & still shelf warmed.

The nose of the plane being a removed piece seems an odd choice for this age group of toys.

I think that planes have wings, not trailers.
Another altmode fun thread incoming, like with Iaconus?
