    Glorious.

The more I see of these the more I wanna see the figures of these guys.

G1 lasted from 1984 until 1990 IIRC, and take into account in the west they never got any of the Japanese exclusive shows.

The Bayverse lasted from 2007 to 2017, not taking into account how Studio Series is still a thing in current year.

But you know, Geewun bad something something 40 years ago blah blah Lego looking ass robots rabble rabble 'old fans' need to consult 'new fans' and these fictional alien robots look more 'realistic' than those fictional alien robots, somehow.

I know we kinda moved on but I just saw this now. Making the characters smaller won’t make the CGI models cheaper at all. They’re still going to be as detailed and complex regardless of their size in the film.

I also don’t think Optimus will be as small as he was in the BB movie. In that film he was short so that he and Bumblebee could speak on more equal terms, especially the scene at the end where he congratulates him. It would’ve undercut Bee’s success if Optimus had to kneel down to talk to him like a child, or Bumblebee had to stand like ten feet away just to make eye contact. :lol

I have a feeling ROTB will keep the characters similar sizes to the Bayverse, maybe a little smaller what with the truck being a more compact design. I’m sure scene-to-scene there will be some fudging but I’m sure Optimus will be plenty tall.

Two things. One, I 100% agree and two I think @Lord Person agrees to some degree as well.

It just makes sense to have them be the size of their vehicles from a visual point of you.

Worth pointing out, it's debatable whether the Bayverse is even truly over or not. Sure, Hasbro mentioned a new storytelling universe, but that was quite a while ago. Aside from this one Truck being used for Optimus(and Arcee supposedly looking G1ish), everything I've seen and heard about this movie sounds like another Bayverse sequel. The people making it can't even seem to agree on what it is. If ROTB succeeds, it wouldn't surprise me if Paramount declares it to be Bayverse and keeps going with that continuity.

Honestly I'm putting it all on whatever post-credits scene is in ROTB to include Megatron. Until they show Megs, honestly it leans to the prequel. If Megs is there, then I will consider it a reboot. I don't even care if it's not or even if it causes a Timeline splinter, I just want them to stol being wishy-washy

Funny thing, I'm actually thinking the opposite. If this is successful, I'd imagine they'd want to make further sequels, but if it's in the Bayverse, they can't as there are films that already take place in the present day (starting from 2007). Sure, they can keep creating films in the past but first of all, there are so many films you can squeeze in between 1994 and 2007 (especially since at some point the Autobots have to leave Earth before 2007?), and second, you can't have Megatron. I can't see Hasbro going that long without Megatron appearing. My guess is they'll try to keep it vague to not piss off Bayverse fans as long as they can but at some point, they'll have to admit it's a reboot.

I agree, in that it's completely ass-backwards to keep trying to remain in continuity with a bunch of prequels that don't add up at all. But considering all the Bayverse production team is still there, I think they (especially Lorenzo) are going to push for exactly that until they're finally taken off the project, or they release a movie that flat out bombs. Even if they're forced to concede a reboot(which I falsely assumed was already the case), they're still going to make Bayverse-lite. To do anything else would prompt the question "Why shouldn't we just hire new people?"

As much as it pisses me off, I can understand why - if they're booted from Transformers, nobody else would want them attached to film adaptions of a franchise they care about. Imagine it - "Hey He-Man fans, you're finally getting another live action movie - From the guys who made the Bayformers!"

I think the industrial bed add on would look out of place without the bullbar to tie it together.

Bay trilogy gets a lot of hate here, but they never looked like the morphed (until AOE where that was a major part of the plot :lol ). Bee Movie transformations (beesides blitzscream) looked like morphing and not transforming. I hope they can improve on that in this movie, maybe by integrating vehicle kibble where abnormally smooth chuncks of rounded knight armour was in BB.

I wonder if they keep flip-flopping on the "is this a reboot" question because they... don't... really... care...?

Like the casual moviegoing audience is not going to give one iota of a shit whether this is the same universe or not. I guarantee there's people out there who think the Christian Bale Batman is the same guy as the Ben Affleck Batman. That Jared Leto and Heath Ledger are the same Joker, or that Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland are the same Spider-Man.

Hell, I had to explain to my mother that Jason Momoa's Aquaman wasn't gonna show up in Infinity War/Endgame.

The average person simply does not care about this sort of stuff, they just care that it's an entertaining yarn involving characters they have a sentimental attachment to. They don't know who belongs to who, or that Bumblebee's ending contradicts a movie from 11 years earlier that was immediately contradicted by Revenge of the Fallen, 2 years later, which itself was immediately contradicted by Dark of the Moon, then Age of Extinction, then The Last Knight.

The only people who really care about connecting these threads are us, here, in these insular fan communities.

So as much as I'd like Bumblebee to be declared a reboot, honestly I don't think it matters to the people in charge.

    That's G2, not Machine Wars.
My theory is they chose Machine Wars because it ran concurrently with Beast Wars.

I was hoping they would stick with the BB movie design, but I guess Hasbro can make a lot more money from a new design.

The cage adds a lot of character. Also like how the stripe angles up on the side.
