Huh, this sounds different from the gimmick we've discussed before. But if we're thinking of the same one I'm surprised it might still be living, considering last I heard of it that it was dead in the water.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I'd like to complete that POTP set. Not opposed to a modern interpretation of Pretender, but I can live without them.

Though, Apollux, wreckgar39, and Jtprime17 (basically all of the Leakers), what figure(s) would you like to see in a future toyline after the WFC Trilogy has ended? And how do you all think about the play pattern surrounding the Weaponizers, Modulators, and Fossilizers (what I put into the catch-all term Equiptors)? Do you all say that it might have a place in the future toylines? Or may it be phased out in favor for more gimmicks that don't have those abilities? In essence, what I am asking with these last questions is "Is there going to be a Weaponizer (with the C.O.M.B.A.T. System)/Modulator (with the A.I.R. Lock System)/ Fossilizer (with the F.O.S.S.I.L. Technology) Equivalent for Future Transformers Toylines or is the WFC Trilogy going to be the only one with these sorts of figures?"

And just a bit of Kingdom Speculation for us all: I wonder what sort of ramps will Autobot Slammer have, if he will have them.

Oh I see. I leak a ton of stuff but I don't count!

    Just kidding.

And honestly I can't speak for the others but coming as someone who mainly gets their leaks from product listings and sources I'm a horrible person to ask about where the future might come with this line. As many of us who see stuff by a product listing obviously don't have the Intel of what the designers are planning until it's already been finalized. So when it comes to guessing or suggesting main line Transformers that will be in the next line we are little better than the rest of you taking shots in the dark. We can tell you what we like but there's not much else that we can say that will give you hints of what's to come. I will say that my personal preference would be for them to take a break from the main G1 cast. And to also seriously consider doing more toy exclusive figures. As I feel that there is far more enjoyment out of discovering a new favorite then there is getting a repeated favorite over and over again. From a business standpoint though I understand that that is unlikely to ever happen. Optimus prime is the Batman of this toy line. He has to appear once every year.

The only thing I can talk to is what I've learned via sale figures. And that is that it seems, at least to the people I've talked to and the numbers I've been provided, that the fossilizers are selling far better than the base bots did in earthrise. And it's too early to tell but they and the vehicle seem to be neck and neck for tying for first place of what of the three types sold the best. It's hard to tell with the fossilizers due to the fact that everything in kingdom is selling very hot based upon how much stores are actually getting; stores are constantly requesting more of the Kingdom figures and not getting them. In fact I have heard from sources that there is even talk that this could continue on until Christmas time due to the distribution and manufacturing issues that come with coming out of covid. I can't speak to which retailer it was but I have heard that one of them even informed they're store teams that they are to immediately disassemble any shippers that are supposed to go in the center aisle for Hasbro and Mattel products and immediately move them to the floor. Unless they have a street date for a movie they are not to be held. Because they cannot guarantee when they will ever get more of them in stock

Distribution issues definitely have made it more complex to determine how well kingdom is selling versus siege. But every number I have seen has shown that the base Transformers were the weakest. So if I had to guess I would say that we are very unlikely to see deluxe modulator Transformers continue on.

The vehicle ones are probably the easiest to produce because they are the cheapest for Hasbro to design and repurpose. But that is true of almost all vehicle Transformers versus Beast transformers. It is far easier to do a reshell of a vehicle with its engineering then it is to do with an animal. You can more easily turn Megatron into blitzwing then you can turn rhinox into an elephant.

That said I have also heard and seen that there is far more excitement for the fossilizers. So it'll definitely be something that Hasbro has to consider. The cost of creating a new figure versus the excitement of the fandom. Because they will take both into consideration. If a vehicle is very cheap to produce they will have to decide though if that is worth doing against getting a more expensively designed fossil / Beast fossilizer that is going to drum up far more interest in the fan community and thus potentially sales.

The final thing, and again this is purely coming from speculation and is no way, shape, or form based upon any insider information, is I can help but Wonder if Hasbro will ever consider doing the weaponizers or fossilizers as mean characters. By that I mean doing a bumblebee figure or an optimist figure that is a weaponizer. I would not be surprised if within the next couple years they decide to do a figure such as this to test the grounds for the possibility of a main line series of purely weaponizer Transformers based upon familiar characters. But again as I stated that is purely just me speculating.

Sorry, considering that there are a LOT of Leakers, I couldn't name them all. I was even trying to quickly look up the names of the leakers and those names stood out.

Though, the fact that the Fossilizers did so well, I hope that they get continued. Even though I'm a bit surprised that the Modulators didn't do so well.
And I have just realized something. The Weaponizers are Vehicles and Mostly used for Armaments with Guns and Ranged Weapons, the Modulators are baseformers and are mostly used for Shields and Armor, and the Fossilizers become Dinosaur Bones and mainly become Melee Weapons. So, via these patterns, we can figure out some ideas for these sorts of figures.

Also, when it comes to the Weaponizers/Modulators, and Fossilizers we have, I have some ideas for potential Weaponizers, Modulators, and Fossilizers that are original characters. There could be a Fossilizer based upon an Ankylosaurus with the shell becoming a Shield and the Tail could become a bat. There could be a Weaponizer that becomes a Spaceship. And imagine officially licensed Weaponizers. That would be sweet.

This is just my speculation but I think the problem with the modulators is they are bases. Kids like vehicles or things that move. They have to be iconic or special to really grab attention, like Soundwave, to get away with stationary modes. And bases instantly mean you need small transformers to play with them fully. And then you have the problem that all the break apart transformers are either obscure characters or brand new so they don't have that built in "Have to get this!" for the general public. So what is going to draw attention is what they look like and what they become.

The Weaponizers all become cool vehicles. The fossilizers are skeleton dinos. The modulators are... kinda buildings? Maybe? They tend to be boxy and don't grab the eye as much as the others.

OK everyone, I'm just gonna draw attention to both of these. Expect nothing. At most, the Pretenders will be super basic, POTP level of figures and might simply not happen at all. Don't have expectations for these.

    @Oniconvoy, what is that from?
Also, how well did the original Micromaster Stations do? Do we have any sales data from that?

Plus, if kids are so uninterested in Boxy Robots or bases, then what about Lego or the Transformers like Reflector, those with vehicle modes that really equal no more than upside-down gun=submarine or spaceship (Shockwave) or the SLABS (the Decepticon Mini-Cassettes.)

Remember that Lego is primarily a building toy, reflector and shockwave make pretty convincing spacecraft if you don't care about whether or not they resemble any existing fictional spacecraft, and the mini cassettes solely exist to be accessories of one of the most recognizable characters in transformers.

i would like to note that "too many vehicles, not enough structures" is a fairly common complaint amongst LEGO fans towards several lines like City, Star Wars, etc.

I highly doubts this. Every time they do so a certain part of the fandom responds with "that gimmick doesn't fit the character". They tried with combiners ( "x character was never a combiner") and headmasters ("x figure ruined by headmaster gimick").

    It isn't a Gimmick that's why ;) .
All I can say is from the images I've seen of the pretenders is they're quite different from what most would expect or hope for.

Closer to re-imaginings like the classics line.

That's... Really disappointing to be honest.
I know Skullgrin, Landmine, Thunderwing, Bludgeon, Octopunch, Vroom, Catilla, and the others aren't the most popular characters in this franchise, but I still think Hasbro could make a buck of them.
If they are only getting updated figures if they are reimagined designs instead of WFC-style accurate toys it'll still be cool depending on what those reimagined figures will be.
But if they'll just be another bunch of low-effort non-articulated potp-style toys. I don't see the point.

Sure, mate. And they'll make that buck by giving us a brick Thunderwing who transforms into a pair of slippers for Ratchet.
Meanwhile there are characters people other than you and four others want toys of. Like Skids and Mufflap, or Armada Optimus.
