Is interesting that so many of Prime's toys in the Bumblebee line were of Evasion Prime.
Probably how Optimus was going to look originally before they went with his more G1-esk design.
Which you know, wouldn't complain if they go with Evasion Prime. One of my favourite and imo the best Bay Prime design.

 

Seeing these images really makes me wish they had made him these colors in the film. He looks so good.

Didnt expect that he would actually have the grill guard. And is it just me or is there a surprising lack of blue in the back of the truck? 

 

I think it just has to do with the lighting. But hey I'd be fully on board if he's shade was darker than what Optimus's blues normally are.
Or if they made his legs black instead of blue, that would be even cooler.

 

On the related note I like how whoever modeled this Bay Prime leaned it towards the streamlined Bumblebee aesthetic a little. Since Bumblebee is still a simplified down Bayverse Bumblebee.

 

The Bumblebee at the end of the Bee movie can't be used properly in a full movie. It was a quick rushed job, so he still has a 90% VW Beetle body with a Camaro chest and doors. That 3d model wasn't a serious attempt at a proper Camaro Bee that can transform and be the focus of well-lit scenes and what not. He will likely have a new better devised body now.

It makes me wonder if this is an intentional homage.
Bumblebee gave Optimus the alt-mode he had in the 80s, so Rise of the Beasts is giving Optimus the alt-mode he had in the 90s.

This is actually really cool. That truck alone gives me Terminator 2 vibes, so I’m understanding that quote about T2 being inspiration. This is kinda a genius way to do movie bots. Have a couple change alt modes and bots like prime keep the same truck but it becomes more and more modified each movie, gives us a consistent alt mode but new toys and looks.
Oh also since we got a TFTM reference with prime leaping over and shooting the decepticons in the bumblebee movie, this rollbar bumper set up is perfect for another animated movie reference, literally mowing down decepticons or predacons.

 

Same here. The toy is still one of the best voyager movie Optimus Primes as well.

 

I really hope that grill guard ends up somewhere cool in robot mode, like hopefully across the chest and shoulders like armour. I'm looking forward to seeing him and Bee get more visual interest in robot mode with these additions. I find its spices up robot designs if there's rollbars and floodlights and stuff.

I think it's just due to the lack of much paneling. What mass is in the rear is blue, but semi cabs don't usually have the amount of chunk Optimus' legs typically require. I'm sure there will be quite a bit of cheating to add more blue to his robot mode than is visible.

 

Yeah, I have the Movie the Best version of Evasion Mode Prime, and honestly he still holds up. He's not perfect, but he's very very very very good.

 

Is there any blue on the truck? I can't see.

The red looks kind off washed out, but maybe it'll look better in the movie.

I'm kind of curious what Nightbird's alt-mode will look like. Mirage's looks good. I'm waiting for off-road Bumblebee to make an appearance.

It's really dark blue, but kind of looks black. Kind of Walmart Netflix WFC prime blue. That works.
