Figures that you prefer mistransformed. Maybe it's an articulation thing, or aesthitic. Alt modes, bot modes, new modes whatever. Here's a couple of my favorites. I don't know what you'd call the alt mode. I like to think of him as a portable supercomputer capable of hacking into any system. For bot mode I never collapse his torso all the way so as to have an ab-crunch. For Blurr I despise the massive floppy arm kibble, I don't care if it's part of his character design, the execution here sucks. I usually just throw them in a parts tub, but they can hang out on his back too. Still have to paint the replacement hands.
I'd say most combiner limb configurations would apply here. I finally finished Volcanicus today and mistransforming really improves the look. Torso mistransformations tend to help a lot, too.
I don’t have a pic right now, but I leave Generations Skullgrin’s chest panels closed to differentiate him from Darkmount/Straxus. EDIT: Pic attached.
I usually keep the ER Datsuns heels plugged into the feet so it has a more square base, I also keep warpath arm treads extended because I like the look
On Siege Ultra Magnus, in order to make room for a carbot inside of his trailer, I remove his head and drop it into the gap in the part of his trailer rear that's made of his leg armour. I also leave his arms on the outside of the vehicle form. I lean them against the side of the trailer, with the arm guards covering his hands and his dual black blasters on the underside, to pass them off as weapon emplacements. He is meant to be a Cybertronian truck, after all, so I think it works. I also leave his cab section sitting further back on the truck, to better hold up the top of the trailer, which I flip over, due to the undersides having more indents that help to hold vehicles that I sit on top. I leave Siege Soundwave's vehicle thrusters pointing up, over his shoulders, in place of his dedicated shoulder cannon. Said cannon I simply use to extend his handheld gun. I think it works better with the larger chest and heavy mechanical detailing to give him dual shoulder cannons and a bigger gun. On Siege Megatron, I leave the small bit of kibble on the back of his arms pointed up, on his shoulders, just to give him a bit of flair. I also sometimes point his tank treads out, similar to his Core figure. With Kingdom Beast Megatron, in robot mode, I leave his dino leg kibble as a skirt, in order to reduce his backpack and bulk up the lower half of his silhouette. Likewise, I tend to leave SS86 Jazz's doors out, to give him a bit more flair and I try having his backpack sit slightly higher up on him, to make his doors more noticeable. I also take the rear window and point it slightly towards his torso, to try and get rid of some of the give in his backpack that results from leaving the doors out. I tend to leave Kingdom Warpath's tank cannon halfway out. I think it looks better than pushing it all the way in and leaving him with a weird little stub on the center of his pointy chest, like a lone nipple his entire upper torso's pointing to. I mistransform SS Devastator, of course, to get him to look up, while on all fours, as well as to try and improve his arms. That's all I can think of, for now, although I'm sure there's others. Yeah, I've toyed with the idea of doing that with him. I do think it adds something to what is otherwise an excessively smooth, kibble free robot, but it does look slightly out of place, compared to the rest of the figure.
