    AHM? The best?

LSOTW is good, though I found it's aged... poorly. The story is great but the edgy robot blood and guts is just so silly. AHM by contrast sucked then and it's even worse now, dismissive and immature towards the continuity that came before and reads like an early 2000's fanfic. Both have utterly fantastic art, though. Given the choice between them I'd say Last Stand is the clear and obvious winner.

Both are really good. But if I had to pick one it would probably be LSOTW, still one of the best Transformers stories imo.

I'm gonna have to go with All Hail Megatron. It was cool to see what victory would look like for my dude, even if it was temporary.

Are you kidding me? Last Stand of the Wreckers. The first is the best, but the sequels are both excellent as well.

I think LSOTW is better by a longshot. There are some things that've aged poorly, but I think that it's still fantastic.

AHM gets a little bit of a bad rap for soft rebooting Furman’s neat espionage/secret war stuff into a more generic “G1 cartoon but for grownups” setup. But even Furman had abandoned that stuff by that point, replacing it with a never ending series of space doomsday plots that were difficult to follow and went nowhere at a snail’s pace. It was refreshing to get character moments again after all that, and there’s a lot of good stuff in that book on that front, minus the totally out of left field heelturn Sunstreaker has (not that Furman’s Sunstreaker was exactly a font of personality). The dissension in the ranks on both fronts in particular felt like it was rooted in each character’s own personality, and those little flashes remind me of the better Marvel UK stories.

But Last Stand is an all timer. Probably the best five issue run of any Transformers comic ever. Roche and Roberts felt like exciting new voices for this world and while they both had flaws that would become apparent later (Roberts more so), they temper each other on that book in a good way

I know this is a non-answer, but they are kinda too different to compare in many ways. They're not even trying to do the same things.

If you want something with more familiar faces in a Sunbow-adjacent artstyle taking on a traditional Earth invasion plot, you have AHM.
If you want a rag-tag group of (relative) unknowns going on a tragic and gory suicide mission, there's LSOTW.

This is like comparing fine wine to grape juice.

(Last Stand is the fine wine, to be clear.)

AHM is way too drawn out.

    Wreckers all the way.

are you thinking it’s going to be really difficult for you to read both? :)  They’re 12 issues and 4 issues respectively - they’re pretty breezy reads.

I always preferred Sins Of The Wreckers, but there we go. LSotW was okay. It is somewhat self-consciously edgy sometimes.

As for AHM, it wasn’t just that it was so jarring with what came before, for me it was the stream of cliche and very simplistic plot pieces that it suffered from.

AHM is generic, very Hollywood destruction porn. It's not terrible, it's just cliche and clashing with the previous parts of the run. As a standalone it's OK-ish, though.

LSOTW is more interesting. It's sort of trope-ish too, very Dirty Dozen way. It fits into the continuity better, though. It delivers its tropes in a more interesting way.

They both work as standalone reads, but if I had to read only one of them it'd be LSOTW.
AHM feels very much like someone tried to kitbash Bayverse with G1.

I loathe most of James Roberts output, and Nick Roche's for that point, and would still say LSOTW is one of the all time best TF tales ever done.
(even if in retrospect the "grimdark' aspect of the violence/Overlord is pretty OTT)

I like AHM more then most around here seem too, and would still say LSOTW is much better.

But it was lighting in a bottle, the sequel was jut dreadful nonsense. I didn't know the third part even existed until recently.

honestly, that pretty much sums up all of IDWs output post-Furman -ation series/AHM/LSoTW

If you thought the sequel was nonsense don't bother with the third. It's an acid trip and a ton of confusing violence and weirdness.
