Yo actually curious what was this site like when the 07 movie was released? Guessing a cluster fuck

 

I like to ignore the existance of that particular G1 movie, and I grew up in that era.
 

 

I am also a G1 fan but not a geewunner, as you said, the word describe hardcore G1 fans that only want everything transformer related to revolve around the "only true" transformer iteration. That's why I didn't like the Cybertron scene in the Bumblebee movie too much G1 propaganda...

G1, Bayverse, all of them had their time, I hope the best wars characters are going to be quite different from their source material, just like how the Bayverse's was from G1.

New is not necessarily bad. Fundamentalism is the scourge of society and some fandoms too or so it seems!

 

You "bayverse fans" really need to get over this whole having a giant chip on your shoulder / victim complex thing.

Also I'd love to see the so called 'experts' you're railing against not say anything close to that and you were just a oversensitive youth at the time when someone pointed out: Hey, maybe this shitty movie made by a guy who didn't care for Transformers much won't exactly invite people who will be fans of Transformers and will spend most of their time railing against what people like about the franchise and act super entitled to decide where this 20 year old franchise should head because you sat through a mind-numbing movie adaption in the vain of Roland Emmerich's Godzilla or Rise of Cobra.

Black and white thinking, no nuance or anything in-between. Every. Single. Time. Even if you got such comments directed at you it was your job to become a bigger person instead of becoming just like those people who insulted you, except in the other direction.

 

Bad. A lot of people (including myself) joined around that time. I was a fan of Beast Wars but never cared for G1. When the live action film came out, it piqued my interest. I became a fan.

Are the Bayverse films good? Nah. But to get insulted on the daily because of something I (and others) enjoy in a separate forum where certain people didn't really need to go to but did anyway to just rain on the parade... it wasn't fun.

There was a lot of people who said they stopped liking the movies for what they were because they felt pressured to do so, which to me is just wrong. Enjoy what you enjoy. But that doesn't mean G1 is the end all to be all of Transformers. Especially on a franchise that has an entire motif that abides to the concept of change.

I was on the Don Murphy Transformers Movie discussion boards in 2007 talking with a lot of Transformer Fans there and the Movie Producer would pop in every now and then and talk to us. I'm not a newbie of this hobby.

I guess I remember more things like Autobots should have blue eyes and Decepticons red eyes type stuff, not that movie fans or any fans suck. I think we were more united as a fan base then. I never thought of putting down movie fans because I was excited a Transformers Movie was coming out myself at that time.

Now I seem to have to defend myself for liking G1 from people poking a stick at me or others that like G1 so I will poke back sometimes. Even though I like things about most of the fandom. Hell I like Beast Wars and the Live Action Movies, but not as much as G1.

 

What chip or victim complex? Where's the lie in my post?

I mean... Shadyboi, who is from 2020, got the same insult I stated earlier.

Maybe we'll "get over it" when it stops? Just a thought.

Not keeping this to the 90's, just googled sports cars and chose a couple that reminded me of characters
Jazz: Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR
Mirage: Pagani Zonda
Sideswipe: Detomaso Pantera
Sunstreaker: Saleen S7
Yeah... it's a little odd that the brothers have vehicle modes seperated by so many decades but whatever

May I recommend watching The Toys That Made Us-Transformers Episode. It has alot of backstory on how Transformers came to be as we know it. Maybe it will help to ease some of the friction a bit.

If this was the only way to get Porche to play ball and at least open the possibility of get a MP Jazz, I'm down for it. Call it whomever you want, call it "Erector" for all I care, just as long as it gets us a MP Jazz in the end.

 

Can we just settle this and say that "geewunners" and "baybies" have all done dumb shit to each other and that nobody here is a fucking victim which is absurd to think in the first place as this is a fandom board. Like seriously no one continue this ret@$ded debate.

 

I look forward to this happening every fucking time we get any new info or pictures because some people will never get over this childish grudge against the 'geewunners' while everyone else tries to have a substantive discussion.
