The whole scarcity thing is another matter of ''if you repeat it enough times then it must be true'' kind of thing.

Yeah. I have been lucky enough to get every figure that I wanted. And if I had wanted to get a second set of bugs, they wouldn't have been hard to come by. I haven't been able to get everything I want from my preferred store; but I can definitely live with that. This experience is nothing like trying to hunt down a Target exclusive.

Yeah, store exclusives when the store isn't particularly interested in selling toys is crappy. G I Joe classified collecting is way more stressful than fans toys collecting, from a purchasing perspective.

If 2022 is anything like 2021 we will likely see 6-8 New molds and then everything else will be reissues.

Judging by what we have seen of these guys so far I'd guess that it will look something like this next year.

    2022
    • Jan - FT-21 Berserk (June 2018 Redesign Announced, Revised Render - July 2019) - 30 Months (43 from Redesign Announcement)
    • Feb - CNY
    • March - FT-25 Outrider (October 2018 - Redesign Announced, Revised Grey Proto - July 2020, Revised Painted Test Shot - July 2021) - 20 Months (41 from Redesign Announcement)
    • April - (Reissue)
    • May - (Reissue)
    • June - (Reissue)
    • July - (Reissue)
    • August - (Reissue)
    • September - FT-31E Bandit (Blurred Render - March 2018, Grey Prototype - March 2019) - 54 Months (42 Months from Grey Prototype)
    • October - FT-30D Hollywood (Blurred Render November 2017) - 59 Months
    • November - FT-30E Viper (Blurred Render November 2017) - 60 Months
    • December - ?
    2023
    • April (2023) FT-26 Pulley (Grey Proto - July 2021) - 21 Months
    • June (2023) - FT-48 Jive (Render - March 2020, Color Render - May 2021) - 27 Months
    • July (2023) - FT-49 Phantasm (Blurred Render - March 2020, Color Render - May 2021) - 27 Months
    • October (2023) - FT-53 Parkour (Render - July 2021) - 27 Months
*Edit - After having a discussion earlier and thinking about it, I've revised the list to make it more plausible. Also added the time from Revel to Estimated Release (In months).

Chomp going up for preorder out of no where showed us anything is possible, So something like Berserk could pop up tomorrow for preorder with a fully painted prototype and I wouldn't be surprised.

But generally what we see of figures follows the order of Render > Grey Prototype > Painted Test Shot & Preorder, so I ordered the release schedule based on what stage we have gotten to see of a figure and when we saw it.

The other combiner bots, I'm hesitant to speculate on.

Honestly this time last year I would have been certain that we would have Meansor done by now and probably just be waiting on the last aerialbot release. Hell, we have had pictures of a Grey Prototype of Bandit since TF Con in March of 2019.

It seems like what ever is going on there is going to delay them until they get it solved, but if they get that wrapped up soon, they will likely be in the mix as well.

The only other bot we have been shown is FT-40, and I almost feel like that would be the sort of thing that you'd have to crowd fund, Especially with how much NA prices have increased at retailers. Going direct from FT might be the only way its feasible to actually put out a 4 foot city bot at a price that the majority of their fan base would be willing/able to pay.

For Comparison here is what we got/are suppose to be getting this year.

    2021
    • Jan - FT-31D Smokey (Blurred Render - Oct 2018, Grey Prototype - March 2019, Color Test Shot - May 2020) - 29 Months Reveal to Release, 24 Months from Grey Prototype, 9 Months from Color Test Shot
    • Feb - CNY
    • March - FT-45 Spindrift 2.0 (Grey Prototype & Render - July 2019, Color Test Shot - July 2020) 20 Months From Reveal to Release, 8 Months from Color Test Shot
    • April - FT-29T Quietus (Reissue)
    • May - FT-12/FT-12T Grenadier (Reissue)
    • June - FT-13 Mercenary (Reissue) / FT-14 Forager (Reissue)
    • July - FT-19 Apache (Reissue) / FT-05 Soar (Reissue)
    • August - FT-07 Stomp (Reissue)
    • September - RP-01 Acoustic Wave (Render - July 2019, Grey Prototype - March 2020, Color Test Shot - July 2021) 26 Months from Reveal to Release, 19 Months from Grey Prototype, 2 Months From Color Test shot
    • October - RP-01A Tapes 27 Months from Reveal to Release, 20 Months from Grey Prototype, 3 Months From Color Test shot
    • November - FT-46 Tesla 2.0 (Grey Prototype - February 2020, Color Test Shot - June 2021) 21 Months Revel to Release, 5 Months from Color Test Shot
    • November/December - FT-47 Rig* (Blurred Render - July 2019, Grey Prototype - March 2020, Painted Test Shot - June 2021) 29 Months from Reveal to Release, 21 Months from Grey Prototype, 6 Months from Color Test Shot
    • December - FT-51 Chomp (Redesigned Announced - March 2020, Painted Prototype - June 2021 (was actually 5/31, but I'm rounding up)) 6 Months Revel to Release. (21 Months from Redesign Announcement)
    14 Releases - 7 New Molds - 7 Reissues

*Edit - Since we discussed the time it takes to go from reveal to release, I got curious and did some maths. I would note that some of these times could be longer than what is possible due to covid-19 affecting both production and shipping.

    * Conflicting Release months on FT-47 at the Retailers I checked.[/QUOTE]

I can't see Parkour being released next year (although I hope I'm wrong). I think the other minibots were about 1.5 - 2 years from render pics to release. So maybe it's possible. But I'm thinking 2022 more likely. But FT will always throw a surprise out there.

Also Bandit. We can't go another year without a finished combiner. Surely that should be the number 1 priority of 2022. Forget Jive, Phantasm. Please finish the combiners.

Wasn't a reissue of the two Targetmasters Lupus and Dracula discussed? I would like it for 2022.

I don't think we can use the old FT release pace anymore. For the past year or so, reveal to release has been pretty short. (ie. less than a year)

I totally agree with you on the time frame, I’m skeptical about really 48, 49 and 53 being out by the end of next year.

For example FT-47 was first shown as a blurred render in July of 2019, then grey prototype 8 months later (March 2020), and just finally shown with a painted test shot last month (June 2021) and should be out Decemberish 2022. So what’s that like almost 2 1/2 years?

Acoustic wave would be about 2 years 2 months (or like 9 years and some change depending on how you wanna look at it lol)

FT-46 has probably been the quickest of the recent releases. His grey prototype was teased around the beginning of the pandemic in Feb. 2020 and he’s suppose to be out in November, so about 1 year 9 months.

But at the moment we have nothing else announced.

So given the information we have, 1. either those guys get fast tracked, 2. whatever is holding up the remaining FT-30 and FT-31 bots gets sorted and they show up finally next year, or we have a super reissue heavy 2022.
