I have purchased many of their decal kits and think they are great. Not the best, but great! It's always good to have options.

Thanks for this insight as well, it's a great read and even better to hear it's nerds working for nerds, selling to nerds. Makes me want to keep buying from them. It's good to hear a company enjoys what they are doing and has a good relationship with people working there.

My question is very simple, why the hell do they not do waterslides?

I would think it would be a simple enough process to have a higher end option and they would look much better in most cases. I know you can't get the chrome/mirror aspect in waterslides but for a good chunk I would think it's not needed.

Those things were the bane of my existence.

Funny story, Toyhax didn't make those labels. To make them cost-effective enough to include as incentives, Toyhax hired out a local sticker manufacturer who did a terrible job. I spent hours after hours throwing out thousands of those label sheets trying to find copies good print-cut alignment. What's Print-cut alignment, you ask?

    Emgo Sticker Alignment.jpg

Emgo316's Youtube Review of POTP Leader Optimus

See how this Hasbro Autobrand sticker has an uneven silver border, where the symbol is in the upper right corner of the sticker rather than the centre? This is bad alignment between the printing on the sticker and the cutting of the sticker (hence print-cut alignment). Toyhax, being an independent outfit, prides itself on optimizing print-cut alignment. The print shop that was hired to print the freebies did not (or at least not to our specs. Reprolabels makes REDICULOUSLY small stickers, as far as the label industry is concerned).

Last I saw there are still tens of thousands of freebies at Toyhax HQ that the boss decided to not hand out because they reflect badly on Toyhax's standards for quality.

They tried. Remember Fans Hobby Gunfighter Trailer (MP G2 Laser Prime)?

    Fans Hobby Gunfighter Trailer.jpg

the Gunfighter 2 sticker was speced out to Toyhax, but Fans Hobby went with a design from the man himself; Frank Miller. Can't blame 'em.
EDIT; Geoff Senior, per Fans Hobby website. Also, this was why people who ordered direct from Fans Hobby got a discount on the Toyhax set.

I'm so glad you like the products! As previously stated, I don't know why they don't do waterslides. But, they do have a printer (called Ravage!) that prints chrome silver and gold ink. You can see this on any of the Mirror-backed symbol sets or some other oddballs like Earthrise Slitherfang's eye tattoo or GS Ricochet's flames.

Who knows, maybe their ink doesn't respond well to water.

you can pretty much make all the waterslides you want for about $20 in Amazon water slide paper and $2 in copies.

    You're probably right.

I heard Frank Miller, but that was third or fourth hand information I heard a long time ago. Thank you.

EDIT: Just checked the website. You're totally right, thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to answer questions!

Here's one, last year I bought white backed Decepticon symbols, since I really liked the ones I bought a few years ago. But when I got them in hand they were VERY dark, much darker than the previous set I had and the pictures on the site. Was this a fluke? I never followed up on it because of real life circumstances at the time, but I'm still curious.

I'm sorry that happened. It could have been one of several things. Toyhax changes stocks and inks periodically, and sometimes files get reformatted badly. There was a lot of progress on that front while I was there, but the older the set you compare to, the bigger difference you'll find.

That said, the current Con Symbols are real dark in my opinion too. Purple is a really hard colour to nail - check out any thread on a Cyclonus or Shockwave toy - especially on Ravage, which is the printer used for that set.

If you're okay with cartoon styled symbols, search for "TH1348" on the site. It is much lighter, but it comes with Autobot symbols too. Hope this helps.

Those offset Autobot/Decepticon symbols were such a recurring disappointment, and yet without any otherwise reliable replacements I ended up just constantly ordering hoping I'd receive a good set.

Thank you for offering this behind the scenes insight.

If Toyhax one day do start selling waterslides I hope they'll still sell all of their stuff as plain old stickers too.
    It's good to have options.

Have they had many complaints about how hard the newer vinyl ones are to actually get off the backing paper and how easily they crease or was it just me?

I feel you. That's exactly why they were discontinued.

Ditto. Glad you like the tread. I'd love options too.

The newer silver chrome stock is very easy to kink, but the stickers should be practically jumping off the sheet. If yours aren't, get in touch with customer service. If anything, the old paper stock was more difficult to peel provided they were both cut perfectly.

Issues with sticker cut depth are common because blades go dull all the time and printers settings are more of an art than a science. Chances are your stickers aren't peeling because they weren't cut properly.

That's a bummer. Like the cut issues mentioned above, print-cut alignment is a tricky balance to maintain. Toyhax made leaps and bounds of progress hammering that issue out at the end of last year. Customer service may be able to help. I'm not sure, but it's worth an email.

Visibility has been an issue for me too with some of the new stickers I bought.
But yeah; hard to make out the outlines at times, hard to separate from the sheet, and they hold creases much easier than they used to.
With the sheets I ordered before 2020, if I had to pull a sticker from a toy because I didn't position it quite right I could simply stick it back on. If I had creased it, the crease would be gone on replication if I smoothed it out a little.

I had major issues with the SS86 Jazz set and, particularly, the Selects Spy Patrol set - mostly owing to their size - but Toyhax were great and sent replacements for the bits that ended up unusable.

I thought that Reprolabels are legal after the Games Workshop v Chapterhouse Studios decision. At least that would be the appeal if Hasbro sued Reprolabels. Am I remembering this wrong?

Thank you for all of the insight!

I've been a pretty consistent customer since that very first Alternators Jazz set through Alternators, Official/3P MP and now into WFC! As a fan that prefers the G1 Toy aesthetic, I very much appreciate the work ToyHax does for these sets.

That explains why so many of the logo sheet I bought recently have terrible sticker alignment. It was disheartening
