The suit came after the accident, didn’t it?

The mask definitely did. Although he was wearing regular (for the 1980s) ninja shit before that. On the desert rescue mission itself, Snake, Scarlett, etc. were pretty much dressed like Grunt complete with that wave 1 green helmet.

Oh, I guess I should clarify, when I talked about Snake-Eyes not talking, I was referring exclusively about the Sunbow show.

Sure, and they never showed Snake-Eyes before he joined GI Joe in the cartoon. I don't think they ever showed anyone that I can remember.

True. He did talk plenty before the accident. I also seem to recall a great scene where he struggles to say Scarlett's name while she's in a coma. Honestly had forgotten about some of that before you brought it up. I should pull out those old issues and re-read them.

Yeah, he managed to rasp out Scarlett's name, and in an early issue (I forget which, but within the first 8 or so) we get to read some short thing he wrote. But for the most part, Hama tried to save it for that long letter to Wade Collins' son that narrates the final issue of the comic:

Man, I loved that comic and toy line.
The fight against Darklon and the M.A.R.S. industries forces in the Amazon (or wherever), Snake Eyes in the Cobra Consulate, Snake Eyes suicide mission in Borovia (?) and then the Middle East thing...oh man.
The stupid Ninja force outfits and the Eco guys just took the wind out of my sails back then, though the Castle Destro bit in Scotland had its moments before going totally off the rails.

I pretty much hated the cartoon.

If this film does turn out to be decent at least, I won’t mind seeing an Action Man film or maybe even a similar Joe spinoff about Cover Girl.

    RotB?

Anyway, I'll give Snake-Eyes a chance only because it's the third time they've attempted a Joe movie. I gave Transformers three movies before I stopped watching them, I'll do the same for GI Joe. However, I won't be surprised if the reviews for this are quite bad, but at this point, I don't think the movie could be worse than Mortal Kombat or pull a bullshit move like Black Widow did.

Saw the trailer for this at Black Widow. I had a hard time being impressed, I'll admit, since it plays off as another honky-become-ninja story at first. This will definitely be a low expectation film, which is a shame. But hopefully, it'll be a similar case to Rise of Cobra, which I actually liked.

At best, I realistically predict this getting a generally mixed reception.

I'd say closer to $30-40 range.

My concern isn’t how good the movie will be, but rather how poorly it will perform. This movie has received practically no marketing, it coming out at a time when theaters are just now starting to open back up/people are willing to go to them, and GI Joe as a concept just doesn’t draw a lot of casual audiences.

I think the movie might be pretty good, but do well at all, similar to how Bumblebee was. Maybe Hasbro/Paramount realize the odds are against this film and will push on, maybe not. I just hope the brand doesn’t suffer again as a result.
