He let go a vulgar insult right at the end of the video when talking about combined mode, because this set, like the NA Devy set, requires major partsforming, which he is not a fan of.

He mentioned in his earlier video of the 1st NA Constructicon set that he feels that Devastator, of all combiners, should require the least partsforming, and he, like many others online, are extremely disappointed with the combine method.

Man, these are some intricate figures, the transformations are MP level
The bots and alt modes look amazing and the way you can customize Mixmaster's drum is a big bonus for displaying purposes.
The only gripe for me are the colors. NA has the paint game down, which is a known fact (although I do think their Constructions are too bright for my taste). Nylon plastic is amazing and I love the stuff, but it is more limited color/paint wise. I'm def not hating this color scheme, I just wish it had a bit more pop/saturation to the lime green and purple. Maybe it will be a little bit better in hand, but I'm not expecting any miracles (was same thing with Bumblebee).
Overall, I really can't wait for these 2 to arrive. Awesome engineering, awesome bot and alt modes, awesome articulation... yes please! :D

@Illiterate Scholar Thanks for taking the time translating all that stuff, appreciated :thumbs2:

@ManelFigures you can watch this video safely, the guy clipped his nails :D

Love how flexible all the parts appear to be…

I kind of agree with that "Devy should require least partsforming" statement but thats going to make Long Haul bigger than the rest and the arms has to be partsformed because of the design. We're just gonna have to wait for MMC's all in one Devy for that one.

GT Gravity Builder's bots are all the same height and proportion, the only partsforming pieces are the forearms and chestplate, and the combined mode still looks good and proportional:

    Screenshot_20200306_202015.jpg

But of course, these are not Legends size.

I think it can be achieved in Legends scale, but maybe not 100% G1 accurate (not counting Hulkie, who is nowhere near G1 accuracy), cos G1 accuracy takes presidency above all else nowadays.

I would still like to see G1 + minimal partsforming someday, if it happens.

I was kind of hoping he had received a released set since it’s due this month, allegedly… one can hope

Ah, thanks for clarifying. I never owned the G1 Devastator, so I don't know if it uses parts forming. I've only ever owned Predaking, and that uses parts forming for the feet and fist. It didn't really bother me. I wonder how much parts forming is needed for this? I still think the bots look great and transforms even better. They have to make some sacrifices somewhere.

Well that's it, isn't it. If you have fists, feet and head that magically appear, than why not thighs, or abdomen too. Both NA and MS use partsforming but so does every other combiner, to some extent.

I think that most people just want less extra baggage hanging around if they're not in combiner mode, stuff to chuck in a drawer. But if you look at IF Bruticus, who does a magnificent job of using only nominal extra bits, you still wind up with a collection of junk that they made an effort to turn into a trailer, that still gives me... a useless trailer when in bot form. You can't win, and you shouldn't really even try, considering in the toon and comic, they blatantly scale combiners up and talk about mass displacement etc which suggests that even when you can do anything you want, you *still* make magic crap coming from nowhere.

The amount of parts forming here is basically the same as the G1 figure, so I have absolutely no problem with it.
If it were any more than that (like NA), I'd be turned away.

NA basically only has the belly that is more than MS. You're quibbling about another 10% baggage . I'd fret more about so many other things like materials, individual design, alt mode etc, since you'll be tossing a pile of stuff in a drawer no matter which team you choose.

Looking good though! Waiting on the shipping notice!

to me its less the little bit more thats partsformed that makes NA bad and more the fact that its a seperate purchase

im also not a fan of the thinner smaller robot modes but thats totally subjective and mostly cause I already have MS Menasor and Megs

I agree! The thing is, as much as I like my figures with a little heft, this nylon plastic might actually be more durable. Imagine tolerance being less of an issue during transformation since your plastic can bend. Plus, it might be more drop resistant with a lighter more flexible material. I wonder if my hunch has any merit. I know my masterpiece figures have some diecast, but I imagine the heft might make the impact of falling greater causing more damage to my figure.

Oh, it absolutely is more drop resistant. There's a fairly infamous video out there somewhere of a Chinese vendor proving just how durable MST's Optimus Prime is...

There's absolutely no need for metal of any sort in these toys.

I'm curious how well the bendiness will handle the weight of the combined mode. Wouldn't want Scrapper's scoop/armature bending under the weight and making him unstable. Seems to be fine on the prototypes, though.

Got a link to the video? I want to see it out of curiosity. It would be amazing if more companies adapted to this material, including Hasbro.

Yeah I’m curious about that as well. From the appearance of the plastic, it doesn’t seem that the prototype was nylon. Has richer, deeper colors and the material doesn’t seem as coarse.

Ridiculously awesome photo. Bad guys in badass poses rule! The only thing missing from my collection to recreate your display is an MS Soundwave, although I do have the NA one...
