A few people are, sure, but a few people aren't the entire fandom and I don't really think some people being cynical after 10+ years of bad movie adaptions is that huge of a deal. Premature? For sure, but they'll feel as they feel just as we will. The posts above are mostly just different versions of "Transformers fans overreact and don't like change" with no substance and just perpetuating the black and white thinking that goes on around here. If they were just engaging with the user honestly and not just trying to make a snide remark I wouldn't care.

You're right of course, about waiting and seeing before making such comments because it's way too early to say, but I've probably seen more people bitching about said people than I've seen said people. I see plenty of incredibly unreasonable, defensive and combative fans of the films, that doesn't mean they're all like that and I do what I can to make sure I don't generalize the 'entire fandom' because of a handful of examples.

I get what you mean, but It'd be nice if people weren't so quick to generalize.

1 person equals an entire fandom! You gotta love how we’re always described as a hive mind with the same exact opinions. Disregarding the fact that we will always have a difference of opinion for something.

Personally, my nitpick would be the choice of making Arcee a bike again.

Everyone's mad about Mirage not being a glaring obvious race car while trying to blend in. Its one thing to have a semitruck with hot rod flames, its another to see this next to you at a stoplight.

I’m not putting anyone yet under the fandom label because I’m sure they are reasonable but if you insist…

That's another reason why I think they're having Mirage turn into a Porsche rather than an F1 racecar. When I go out, I do occasionally see some Porsches driving around, especially around larger cities. One type of Porsche I know I've seen before is the Cayenne. I have never seen an F1 racecar. I've seen demolition derby cars, usually being transported on or by another vehicle, like a flatbed, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen one driving around.

It's essentially what Arcee pointed out about Smokescreen in Prime. Racecars stick out like sore thumbs when out in the public, so it'd probably be very easy for a Decepticon to spot an Autobot racecar, especially if the Decepticon recognizes the livery.

Not against Mirage being a racecar, I don't want to sound like I'm saying that, but if he really wants to stick to the whole "Robots in Disguise" schtick, the best place where he'll fit right in is on the racetrack. But, if he has to be on the move, once he leaves the racetrack, he's probably going to be easy to spot, unless he uses his cloaking abilities, but until ROTB comes out, I'm not sure if he'll use his cloaking abilities or not. I hope he will, because I've always associated the name Mirage with the ability of making you question whether or not he's actually even there or not, one of my favorite Mirage moments being when he confused Rumble in G1.

I like the Mirage new look. It makes more sense for him to be a Porsche if he is a prominent character in the movie instead of having him driving round the streets as an F1 race car.

At the Paramount virtual event it was hinted that he will have more than 1 alt mode. So whats to say we don't get Mirage taking form of an F1 race car at some point in the movie?

...yeah, I was never seriously expecting any live-action version of Mirage to transform into an F1 race car. As changes go, IMO this is even tamer than Optimus being a long-nosed cab or Arcee being a motorcycle, and those had precedent.

Yeah, totally agree. Some people seem to expect a 1:1 recreation of G1 on the big screen, which is just not going to happen. And nor should it. Like I said in another thread, G1 Mirage's altmode was decided before Transformers was even Transformers. Before Mirage even had a name and a personality. He existed because a toy designer thought "hey, wouldn't a robot that turns into a Formula 1 racecar be cool". The G1 writers just had to ignore the fact that an F1 isn't a great disguise because they had a preexisting toy to market...changing the design wasn't an option for them. Almost forty years later a live-action movie doesn't need to adhere to the same limitations as the '80s cartoon. Now the important thing is getting the character right, not the specific car. It's one thing to get mad about them making Optimus Prime too violent or even making Bumblebee a cool car instead of a cute car (if someone feels that's not in the spirit of the character). But changing Mirage from a fast sporty car to another fast sporty car shouldn't be a concern.

As far as i know, race cars are designed to be quite light for better performance and thus they are not supposed to be in regular streets or rocky roads as they could break apart.

In all fairness to G1 Mirage and any sporty car Autobot... a flashy car walking downstreet is -still- less bad than a giant alien robot.

the alternator-style gt would work so well for a plausible street-legal mirage, especially with that wide flat beetle-like profile that lends itself well to g1 mirage's broad body and chunky footprint.

I don't think it's the fact that Mirage doesn't turn into an F-1 what people are mad about, but that he turns into a car that's associated with another character. Like if you looked at the car, the first guy you think of is Jazz. It's whatever though I guess. At least the colors are close this time around.

People on this site are incredibly prone to black and white thinking, they just jump from one extreme to the other and don't recognize nuance. Someone could be super positive about the information but if they make one not-so-positive observation suddenly they're lumped in with those who don't like it.

They're blowing some negative comments WAY out of proportion because they wanna 'dunk' on the 'geewunners', I don't even think some people being negative is a super huge deal because when you apply context some of those comments start to make a bit more sense, and a few negative comments is far less annoying than the ones who are actively looking to make this into yet another fucking "us Vs. them" thing.

I hope a day comes when people on this site stop behaving in a predictable manner, but I won't hold my breath.

You just described the human race :lol . I wouldn't hold your breath :D .

I LOVE the energy. MUCH better than Bay which emanated the excitement of a child who doesn't want to eat his vegetables.

Even if I don't like the movie, which I'm sure I will, I really do appreciate Mr. Capel Jr's energy and passion.
