I often don’t bother, but the best way to cleanly apply glue is to squeeze out what you think you need onto a piece of cardboard then dip a toothpick or paper clip in it and just spread a little in the surface rather than squeezing directly into the surface. That should also solve your concern about it sitting too high.

if the glue you use is a good choice to begin with (sometimes it just needs to be epoxy- but I doubt it for this), it will take a lot less glue than you think to secure it.

 

wait i didn't even know you could extend the thighs! are they supposed to be extended, or is it just for better clearance for the grey pipe pieces at the hip?

You can extend them, but they don't lock. They slide back down....unless I'm missing something...

 

 

I believe those sliders are there to improve articulation, not to make him taller.

 

i myself didn’t know the legs could extend until the Emgo video. It doesn’t appear in any of the product shots, and not in the instructions. (That’s not saying much tho). I believe it is just for the articulation because standing it exposes the joint and it just breaks up the look of the figure all together. Mine does not lock either there is a soft “thoop” that is ironically hard to push back down. Either way I won’t be using it unless it’s for a pose.

 

The thighs are extended for robot mode in the instructions.

There is no step showing them sliding back in but they are slid in later on.

The instructions are absolutely horrendous though. They skip so many steps and leave the blades out and the top unfinished at the end.

FT Sovereign vs UT Nero weigh in:



I was moderately surprised that Nero came in a tick heavier. In hand I thought Sovereign felt slightly heavier. Maybe because Sovereign is more compact.

Anyway, these are some hefty bots, but both are also excellent toys in my opinion, which is of course more important than the weight. Sovereign was the potent gateway drug that plunged me down the 3P rabbit hole.

 

Tell me about it. I took the tabs out to glue the horn on it but I must have missed it by a few mm because this is the result:



I’m hoping that new replacement head from L8 studio will be made soon.

 

I totally disliked Galvatron in the movie, but now I can confidently say I like Nero better than Sovereign. Unique Toys really did a fine outstanding job producing this figure. I might just have to buy a second copy.

 

And that’s why I’m not brave enough to glue it....

I just transformed mine. Found the videos made it harder as you spend too much time trying to figure out what they did and tracking back all the time. Transformation is very foldy but it is quite intuitive. Couple of bits I need to smooth out still.
