Got this guy in the early release from BBTS but held off opening him (and SS 86 Grimlock) till my Birthday yesterday.

Well - I love him - misassembled shoulders and all. A great representation of Galvatron and scales very well with the other Siege and Studio series figures.

I do wish they had left off the battle damage or pool drippings or whatever.

Can't wait to pair him with Rodimus later in the year.

Having this figure in hand I really can't understand why Hasbro/Takara never came up with a Masterpiece Galvatron of their own down through the years.

Kingdom Galvatron just arrived from Amazon (along with Soundwave and radioactive Dracodon)!

    Misassembled? Time to disassemble! :D

Galvatron shoulder fix kit ready to go... Energon drink and cubes, nylon tool, and Robot Heroes Galvatron for moral support! :p

    30 minutes later... Bam! :thumb
Not a single stress mark or any chipped plastic on Galvatron! :)

ABSOLUTELY do not use metal flat head screw drivers if you plan to do the fix. You definitely need to use a nylon tool. I didn't have secondary one in the toolbox, so once I loosed up one side, I shoved a wooden clothes pin in, and used the nylon tool to loosen up the other side.

I can't even imagine the damage I would have caused with a metal flat head screwdriver with the amount of force and rage I was inflicting on plastic. I was like the dad fixing the furnace in A Christmas Story. :p

Got mine today and basically. The best galvatron ever in my opinion, did the shoulder fix with my nylon tools and removed the goo stuff off him.

Having some time today (My birthday) to mess around further, I got the torso sides to snap into the chest correctly (and now it goes fine), figured out or wore down the tab a bit on the cannon adapter opening to release the robot mode head, and some other minor details and have really come to like the figure a lot more.

Yeah, the arm treads could be a bit better, and a friend is going to 3D print a smaller cannon for me, but the rest is very good.

Glad you fixed yours OK :thumb  Mind if I ask when you preordered from Amazon?
I had ordered about 2 weeks ago when I saw the "September stock" come up, thinking it might be a fixed batch,
then that timeframe changed to shipping next week, but it seems that the ones shipping out now are still defective?

I already got one lemon from BBTS, and I want to try to get a fixed one from some retailer, but I'm trying to wait
until I can be sure the lemons are gone... I have one on PO from Amazon JP, I might just wait till December I guess...

June 26. It had like Sept 1 ship date, they kept moving it up until it arrived on July 7, lol.

I was just going to flat out return it if the shoulders were misassembled (Plan A), but I figured what the hell let's fix the damn thing (Plan B).

You're probably going to get a lemon if it's coming next week from Amazon. However, you really have nothing to lose if you try to fix the one you got from BBTS. If you eff it up or you aren't pleased with the results, you can just exchange it with the one from Amazon for a refund and wait to find a fixed one at brick and mortar to do an exchange.

I honestly think if you got a nylon tool lying around, follow some youtube videos, use some judgement it's kinda hard to mess it up because the plastic on Galvatron's shoulders is crazy sturdy as hell.

The only other time I've pryed open a Transformers figure was the recent Punch/Counter Punch figure in the 2 pack with Barricade. That was actually scary because the plastic seemed thin/brittle.

Finally found a Galvatron at Target, with the misassembled shoulders of course. Is the shoulder surgery just so one doesn’t have to see the rivet holes after rotating the shoulders around? Or is there another reason? If its just to not see the holes than I don’t think I’ll bother.

It's just an aesthetic thing unless you plan on pegging the treads into the shoulders, which then hinders the articulation, so I will never do that anyway.

Oh good, thanks! Yeah I have no desire to peg in the treads, and the rivet holes don’t bother me. I might still do it someday if I’m bored and need a project, but its waaaaaaay down at the bottom of the list.

Someone from our local TF toygroup send an e-mail to Hasbro Asia for the Galvatron shoulder mess.
Hasbro Asia customer service replied to him saying what happened is just an "Alternate Assembly".

F*cking Hasbro don't want to admit the MESS.
Heck they never admit the same thing from their MPM-04 tabbing issue.

Customer: "I have a fuckin' defective shoulder!"
    Hasbro: .....shrugs.

The one who really suffers in Hasbro's product mess are the retailers, suppliers and customers.
And Hasbro is just collecting profit and don't bother to make mass recall of the product globally

If anyone has one with incorrect shoulders, they would be willing to sell? Please message me.

Are we sure the shoulders are messasembled? Looking at screenshots of the movie and cartoon, his shoulders are meant to sit low. The top of them don't go up past the bottom of his shoulder pads.

Why would they release a running change with fixed shoulders if it was properly assembled to begin with?

Because everyone is complaining? Didn't the original renders have them lower?

Benefit is, with the shoulder pins facing forward they’re actually in a 5mm port that you can plug the cannon into, to recreate the G1 toy look. Outward pivot is kind of negated that way unless you pivot the black collar piece nearby, inwards, elbow movement is negated too.
