Totally agree, and it's also possible that VW/Walmart would not strictly limit more uses of it, but the added costs are not worth it from Hasbro's POV.

 

Another possibility that occurs to me is there may be a contractually defined time frame around when Hasbro is allowed to re-release that, EG it’s exclusive to Walmart for a year or 18 months.

 

I feel like the most likely thing is that VW either specified that Hasbro gets one release using the licensed mold or that that license costs are too high to reuse the mold even for a second Bumblebee.

 

All this talk of VW, Walmart, etc gets me thinking that perhaps it's a license that's restricted for now, or just Target, but could be freed up down the road and we see it rereleased in Legacy. As we've seen before, they love reissuing figures in the same trilogy, nothing to stop them from doing it in the next one.

I can even conceive of it as an even better deal. I believe the Grotusque release was $25 originally right? New deluxes have a $22.99 MSRP. So $80 for possibly $101 in figures if sold separately. Not so bad... just the gotta buy all 4 part. I’m also in the “only want Fangry” club. Nemesis is growing on me a lil tho with those swords.
