Why do people say TFP Starscream is the best version?

Starscream successfully commanded the Decepticons during Megatron's three-year absence, running several Energon mining facilities, overseeing the construction of a Space Bridge, killing an Autobot and pinpointing the location of another. It's a shame we didn't get to see more of that Starscream during the show's run.

Even so, that doesn't negate his other accomplishments.

"I have been a fool. Made mistakes. Monumental ones. But I have gained a clear understanding of my place in the universe. Of who I am. Starscream: aligned with no side, servant to no one."

    *sigh*

The show did a real interesting thing near the beginning by (almost) killing Megatron and having Starscream assume command of the Decepticons. Our favorite Seeker finally gets what he always wanted, cool! But then there's Soundwave, who clearly doesn't approve yet he doesn't speak out, instead he just spits Screamer's own words back at him. That's a fascinating setup -- a Decepticon leader who doesn't have to worry about someone stabbing him in the back, but rather being held accountable for his own actions. An entirely different take than the usual Megatron/Starscream deal, and a ironic twist on Decepticons.

The show brings back Megatron far too quickly for much to develop, unfortunately.... but then Partners happens. An episode that teases Autobot Starscream. Whoa! As much of a villain as he is, he's not quite totally irredeemable, so maybe it could work out one day. Hell, imagine if he became the next Prime? Obviously he needs to do a lot of growing and re-evaluating (and work things out with Arcee), but it sure would be a cool end goal. One of Optimus' first interactions with Leader Starscream was to offer an olive branch; things could've gone full circle.

But before that... Starscream on his own! SO, here is where he actually learns and grows, yeah? He could steal away Breakdown because the Stunticon still has that debt from Operation:Breakdown to pay (*cough*); and since BD has had a couple moments of being a decent bot, maybe Starscream can become a bit less of an ass himself, yeah? Then there's Ratchet, who initially comes to the Seeker's aid because of the Hippocratic Oath, but maybe Optimus prioritizing the humans over Cybertron pushes the doc bot towards a not-insane ex-Con who puts Homeworld First... and is willing to let the humans be.

Meanwhile, for some reason Airachnid is also on her own. Why would a story do two similar character arcs? So they act as foils to each other, DUH! Seriously. Airachnid gets everything easy (just so happened to be able to control an army conveniently buried on Earth, WTF?), while Starscream has to fight for everything, and fails and fails and fails again. Which feels a bit like:
    44e69d4e3aa1a12792c4367682e0656b.jpg

So if you're following my lead here... Starscream initially wants to rule for glory's sake, but over the course of the series he developes genuine leadership skills, makes some actual friends who actually trust him to make the important decisions and all, and finally takes the crown because he's really the best bot for it.

But then the end of Season 2 happened...

But how many Autobots did Megatron kill on the show?

Exactly, Megs couldn't even get the job done! And to add insult to injury, Bumblebee turns right around and kills him! Get out of here with that weak shit, Megs. Make way for the real Autobot killer, Starscream!

I think it's because people feel like he is Starscream The Character. No, he is not the strongest version of Starscream but I believe the writers gave a great deal of attention and focus to his character. The Prime version emulates on the outside, how Starscream feels on the inside, and I think is what people mean when the call him The Starscream (Or rather the character of Starscream). On top of that I think Prime Starscream got 3 times more screen time out of almost all other versions of his character in the cartoons. But yeah in terms of Starscream being a cowardly, backstabing, sometimes incompetant, scheming and wanna be leader, as a character he is one of the best versions that emulate this.

I always though Armada then Cyberton Starscreams were considered the best.

The only good thing about TFP Starscream is that eventually he realised he would never overthrow or replace Megatron and was content playing second banana. So it's good he had some self-awareness unlike cough couch Animated.

Really? Huh. I know that Armada version is a fan favorite, but I always thought that majority of Transformer fans felt the either G1, or Prime were the best versions. I hardly ever hear anyone talk about Cybertron Starscream let along say he's the best versions in the cartoons.

How can you not love the rendition of this guy? I don't see any of the other screamers out there doing the pelvis rotations to "ALL HAIL STARSCREAM!!!" :D

He would be one of my favorite Starscreams if they gave him this design
    BORSTARSCREAM.jpg

But of course, they can't. They swore to ignore Hasbro at every opportunity.

Speaking of this design, I can clearly see how RID2015 Starscream's design was based on this:
    BORANDRIDSTARSCREAM.jpg

Although I hate TFP Starscream's current design, he was much better than those Armada and Bayverse nameslaps.

    Here we go again....
    FACEPALM.PNG

Armada Starscream is loyal, and Bayverse Starscream is just a guy who has no personality (just like all the Bayverse characters)
