    Naw man,

Orn Free Taa is as good as dead. Cham was charged with attempted assassination even though he wasn't the one to actually kill him. The body was even carted away on one of those hover cart things for transporting crates, lol.

I really don't get this complaint. The Star Wars universe has always been small, it's a work of fiction meant to tell an entertaining story. It's why planets are always represented by a single small capitol city with one leader, rather than be actual planets with hundreds of different governments and officials. Characters crossing paths in side-stories is part of the fun, it means these things aren't forgotten or simply cease to be once the camera pans away. Ryloth was one of the most popular arcs of the first season.

I thought it was great to see Cham again, and I find his reaction to the Empire believable. He was a passionate freedom fighter, but ultimately he wanted his people to be safe and secure. Him acknowledging that the Empire didn't threaten his people's safety and acquiescing felt a lot more believable than that plot. You know what I mean, that plot they could have done where he simply rebels against the Empire and has that scene where he's like "the clones used to fight for our freedom but now they take it away!" Instead we saw that, yet again, the Empire doesn't merely want the galaxy pacified, it wants it controlled. They even had that clone commander who was actually sympathetic to Sendula. It seems the higher ranks aren't quite as brainwashed as the rank and file, or the inhibitor chip simply compels them less when those who oppose order 66 aren't involved.

his body was still moving apparently, and he appears in the Lords of the Sith book that takes place five years after 66, and he's in the 2017 Vader comic. Then again, Lucasfilm does what Lucasfilm wants.
known as Captain Ballast in the toys, I think he's a Gen 1 clone due to the amount of individuality he's got. blue armor, scars, a wicked haircut, dude's def gonna try to disobey and die for saving Hera.

    You noticed it too?
I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed young Hera wavering between that vaguely-french accent most Twileks seem to have and a vaguely-more-british accent

I’m not too surprised that if you go to Ryloth, you’ll see Hera at this point. Her Dad is a pretty big deal on Ryloth. It would be like going to Alderaan, meeting with Senator Organa, and not seeing Leia.

I’m more surprised they used an episode spot for a courier mission for the Bad Batch, but I’ve said before that this season is too long.

Is it just me or was Hera's accent much thicker than it was in Rebels? Hell, in Rebels I don't even think she had one. It was kind of jarring for some reason.

In Rebels Hera gets a bout of revertigo and picks back up her childhood accent while talking to her dad. So I wasn’t that surprised.

If you’ve never seen it happen in person it’s fascinating. My wife has zero accent as an adult until she’s talking with close family and it comes roaring back.

Hera switches to her native "French-ish" accent in like two episodes of Rebels.

Pretty sure that was on purpose to imply she lost it over time.
However her accent does still come out briefly in Rebels when she is arguing with her dad.

She has an "American accent" throughout the majority of Rebels. The only time that her native Ryloth accent came out was in a scene when she argued with her father. But it was enough to hint that she had been so far from home and for so long that the accent was lost over time until it briefly resurfaced.

That was really freaking good. The craziest part is that the batch themselves only feature for one scene. This is really
    Hera’s episode.

This was a really unique, interesting episode because it’s really the first time the show hasn’t focused on the main cast. It’s kinda like the second Bill Burr episode of Mando when Grogu was captured and absent, it makes you ask if the show is still good without its main cast. And honestly? Yeah, it was. Maybe even better.

It was really cool to see a different side of
    Cham
, someone who was now willing to accept peace even from the Empire. He had fought with the clones and respected them, so why shouldn’t he give them the benefit of the doubt? That was really understandable.

And that led to probably one of the biggest surprises - we got our first clone post-Order 66 who is portrayed as a human being. While the clones are forced to be loyal to the Empire and are deadset against anyone who disobeyed Order 66, now we’re seeing a bit of what one of them is like in a setting completely absent of the Jedi that Palpatine wanted dead. It looked like the chip permanently destroyed the personalities and humanity of the clones and increased their aggression, going off that cafeteria scene in the first episode, but this one acted like a human being who clearly didn’t like his orders he was getting. And even fudged the rules once for his friend’s sake. That’s really interesting to actually see, and this is something we all wondered if the show would tackle. I thought we had our answer on what clones were like post-Order 66, but now? This guy, to quote Primal, just ripped it wide open.

When I saw Cham and his wife, I figured that the namedrop of Hera would be all we get. So seeing Hera herself was great, and Vanessa Marshall did amazing. To be fair, it’s easier for Vanessa Marshall to do a younger voice than it is Freddie Prinze Jr. I loved seeing this younger, more innocent and even more idealistic Hera. The character is so genuinely likable and this feels like Filoni taking genuinely good care of one of his babies. She may just be the best character introduced in Rebels, and I’m excited to see her story continue to be told at different points of her life and beyond.

I will also say that, while I do love Rebels and have previously opined that I don’t object to some of their designs as much as others, man,
    Cham
looks so much better here than he did in Rebels. I honestly had not watched the
    Cham
episodes of TCW so Rebels and it’s design for him was my intro to him, but man, this design looks so much better.
Hera also looked really good here, and seeing Chopper was a real treat too.

    Omega and
    Hera
was really sweet, and honestly really charming. I hate to use the word magic, but it was just a really great scene. For some reason I got some of the same feeling I got when I watched Ahsoka communicate with Grogu. There was something really magical going on here.

Not a minute of this episode was wasted, not one bit. It wasn’t even something on the sheer spectacle or god-tier of Siege of Mandalore, but it was just a great, terrific, charming episode and easily the best so far.

As someone weary of Disney Star Wars' cavalcade of cameos, I thought this episode handled it wonderfully. It's purely a Hera episode, that just happens to briefly cross paths with the Bad Batch. Feels a bit more like a Clone Wars Anthology episode vs. Our Heroes Keep Getting Involved in Famous Other Characters' Plots. It's also great seeing an actually-younger Hera. It was utterly bizarre seeing characters like Bo Katan or Fenec remain virtually identical between this era and Mando's time despite there being like 30 years in between.

And honestly, I think these past couple episodes have shown how weak the Bad Batch themselves are. I'm absolutely excited to see how the Empire's dealing with the various planets under its rule, but then the Marauder comes in and deflates everything. Like, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be reusing that Ratigan gif next week, all too aware of the irony...

I'm really glad for this. I haven't liked the inhibitor chips since they're effectively this:
... so seeing a clone once again weighing duty against ethics is refreshing. I mean, that's a HUGE reason I enjoy Clone Wars, the way the troopers ride that weird line between disposable meat-droid and average everyman.

I don't think that was the intention, I think it's more about the overall change in direction from the Republic that the Empire imposes. Inhibitor chips are merely designed to make the clones obey orders methodically, 66 specifically, and up until now we've only really encountered clones acting on 66 or the rank and file grunts who aren't very individual to start. Without the Jedi or a more flexible command structure that minor bit of uniqueness seems to have been near totally hammered out by the Empire. Used to be you'd see squads filled with clones with personalized unit markings and unique colours and gear. Now all the clones are standard white (which we know continues through the Stormtrooper transition) and lacking that humanizing encouragement of the Jedi. It's just the Kaminoans and the Empire now, and we all know how they react to aberrant behaviour.
