    Looking great so far...

    But minor quibbles

I'll miss the "knife in the palm" gimmick of the original toy, but I understand that would be complicated without sacrificing hand articulation.

And maybe could have gotten away with a single crotch/hip piece instead of skirt flaps? Don't know if they're totally needed (course, I've never really liked the skirt-flap method going ALL the way back to MP-01)

I do like the "treads separate from the shoulders" look.

Wonder if he has the little slide up faceplate (never watched Armada, was that just a toy thing)?

Good to see that the shoulder treads are actually over the shoulders properly now. Hoping that turret can actually lock in place, since it looks like it's just propped up on a side skirt in the shot where the barrel is side mounted.

Given he never used it in robot mode in the show or game, (maybe in the DW comic but I don't think so) I'm inclined to believe it's not for robot mode but just to hide the face in tank mode.

Yeah it was just a means to hid the face in tank mode in all forms of Armada media with nothing to do in robot mode. And seeing as most of his head besides part of the horns are already hidden in tank mode (a good change I will add) I doubt it will be included.

    He looks decent.
My personal issue with Fanshobby is that they don't get the charm from the originals right, the sculpt and detail leaves to be desired.
Also this Megatron was based on a Pat Lee drawing...(though i think that was a good decision so Megatron could have a better shoulder articulation)

The drawing had the tank treads at the back, while here they're still on top of his shoulders, just separate pieces so they can not move or move like in the cartoon.

Plus I think he captures Armada Megatron pretty well, but it's like an MP-10 situation like Naval Commander. Not 1:1 from the cartoon like recent MP's but in hand they very much are Armada Optimus and Megatron.
The difference they've done here with Megatron is that they've made his abdomen and thighs more blocky compared to the original. That and the face they chose for this showcase isn't the best (even less so in just grey) as we know he will come with different faces.

if this is a success, will they do others?

Starscream & Hot Shot both badly need updates.

I think they've teased Jetfire and Overload.

    I want a combiner-sized Tidal Wave

Stop! I need some blood in my brain right now. It's all rushing to other parts of my body in excitement. ;)

An MP Armada Starscream would be amazing.

I definitely want the combiner partners (jetfire, tidal wave, etc) too.

Really good catch. The extreme ankle rockers and well-articulated arms give this guy a lot of personality!

After the Beast era and R.I.D. 2001, it was almost shocking when the original toy didn't.

I'll be honest though, I didn't mind it much. I mean Armada had gimmicks out the wazoo. Mini-Con capture claws, huge missile launchers that opened up or flipped out of nowhere, hidden guns that required Powerlink activation, just tons of fun stuff. And to think how much you got for just $10-20 USD compared to today, it was just a great value for the target audience. I mean, of course as an older collector I want an articulated high-end version, but I can appreciate the original very much too.

While I never owned the original, as I was a baby when the series aired, I always admired the figure's engineering when I was growing up. The only megatron I owned from the unicron trilogy was the voyager version of energon megatron, which I played with extensively. I very much enjoyed UT's play features, with cybertron being my favourite because I technically grew up with that cartoon. I want to get in on this line of figures from fanshobby but I can't bring myself to do it due to the knowledge that the line might begin and end with the 2 leaders and their combining partners. I just might get energon optimus though since I got the original one for my birthday and a lot of nostalgia is attached to that particular show and design
