Oh I’m fully aware that it wasn’t gonna be cheap in the first place. I’m cool with that. I knew what I was getting into when I took Roadking’s meaty ass out of the box. And I had no problem paying the price for Smokey.

But the influx in prices (for whatever reason, economic or not) is a boulder I am more than willing to dodge. If you want a number? I’d say maybe $350-$390

I'm not sure how you are getting nearly $700

Soundwave is $250 and includes a $40 frenzy. That is inflated from prices from previous years but still well within fairly normal high end collectors prices. Considering that smokey was released at $125 this year I'd be shocked if they tried to get more then $150 for bandit(if he was stand alone). then you add in the exo skeleton price, which who knows what that could be but $500+ dollars seems well outside what is logical.

But ultimately I think I might be wrong, If the recent prices you've seen recently are too high for you, then you shouldn't be in the 3rd party market. You just aren't a high end collectible person.

Most of the recent FT prices weren’t logical a year ago, and now they doubled and are being called normal. Trust me FT can easily suck it out of ya guys at over $500

I'm just saying some comparable figures released now are up 50-75% from original prices. Similar figures like Lupus to Chomp and The Insecticon re-issues are up at least 75%. Trailbreaker is up about 75% from it's original price. Dinobots are up 50%, So I think it'd be fair to expect the $380 RoadKing/Carbot (pre pandemic price) plus a 50-75% price jump. So that's looking like $570-$665. (International pricing)

I think it'd be smarter to charge more for other releases to subsidize this a bit to avoid enraging all the people that are just wanting the last piece but I won't be shocked by any crazy pricing that happens.

You can never say never but I think the last Stunticon is 2022 at the earliest, and even then, probably late 2022.

 

phoenix reissue was over $300+ right? the menasor playset will be larger, but simpler, than that but also need more hardware and engineering.

Id say ur right there. They are gonna milk us some more before dropping this beast. I honestly feel like we'll see another aerialbot before bandit. I do hold out a little hope that a small part of the price increases lately is to offset bandit+skeleton. It'll still be pricey im sure but one can hope 

 

I’m close to ordering dx9 mainly because I’m losing hope they’ll release it separate to the skeleton/trailer/pants/nanobots that will make the combiner.

There’s no doubt that this must be an engineering hold on the combiners. I guess it’s amazing we even got Smokey! Does this mean the engineering for Bandit is even trickier or is the holdup for him purely the combiner skeleton? Or is the hold up due to the fact they want to get a load of other releases out first? Or are they releasing other stuff because Marauder is delayed?

Engineering a carbot is nothing new for any 3p company. It’s the skeleton. FT in particular has the issue of having far too much unnecessary diecast weighing it down already and is trying to figure out how to keep it from keeling over.

 

There's really only one answer for the diecast problem.... more diecast!

I like my figures heavy but I can see how it becomes a problem when it's a combiner. I would be happier if they go more the DX9 way then the XTB way. I wasn't a fan of how the XTB frame panels seem to come off.

 

Boy am I excited for that head injury I get while Menasor come crashing down...
