Looks like this will be a set I skip. I've loved all the DNA design sets for the Studio Series but, like the Jetfire/Optimus set, the only thing I really want here are the hands. I usually keep Optimus and Jetfire separate so much of that set wouldn't get used more of the time. And my collections are just live-action movie and Beast Wars so I've been skipping the other 86 figures so, again, most of the set would go unused. Oh well. I didn't really feel the need for upgraded hands. Honestly, I wanted Jetfire's more.

 

I love the Hot Rod/Daniel fishing stuff. Wish that was sold separately.

 

No shield and lightsaber for Hot Rod, easy pass.

 

Funny, I have the opposite problem. I'm really digging the Hot Rod and Kup parts, but could care less about the Jazz (I was still happy with RTS Jazz) and Starscream (I don't collect figures from that line) parts.

I'd love to get this kit, but $40 feels like a lot for it when I won't use half of what's included. If someone wanted to go halvesies with me on it, though, for the Jazz and Starscream parts, it could be a fun buy.

meanwhile there's still nobody doing a fully painted and solid mini Megatron, Shockwave, Reflector, and Soundwave with 5mm handles for chug figures.

It looks like forearm covers don’t work with transformation, that is a bummer.

I ordered the set though, looks good.

 

I know everyone's talked to death about mixing SS86 and SS-live action, but those Starscream parts are kinda nothing and I feel like would have made more sense in another grouping, if at all. Kinda feels like one of those things where you set a certain price beforehand and have to come up with something at the end to fill out the box. I don't hate it, and I feel like anyone buying this for the G1 guys is not wasting a load of your money.

I do wonder if they'll put those parts in another kit later so that people can use them with the many editions of that seeker mold that will likely happen.

 

Yeah, the SS parts feel like they were thrown in because they wanted to release them but didn't really have a better place.

They're tiny bits, I doubt they added significantly. Probably in the same tooling as the Kup parts too.

 

It's old, so I don't know how easy it would be to find anymore, but there was once a mini Megatron... And he was even transformable!

 

I was hoping someone would come up with a fix for Jazz's feet sticking halfway out his rear, but even so these are pretty cool! Think I'll snap up the Jazz kit.

 

it was a $20 deluxe with $10 worth of accessories for a dozen figures. You call hasbro overpriced when 3P charge $15 for a single gun or sword or $20-$25 for gap fillers? Seriously?

you do know that jazz’s feet back there actually are part of the design of the Porsche that is his alt mode right?

It's so weird that this G1-based kit includes pieces for a Movieverse figure. That fishing rod for Rodimus and Jazz grappling hook look fun tho.
Seeing that Daniel ninifigure makes me wish that DNA could make a kit that includes both Frenzy and Dispensor as minifigs. They're the last missing TF1 characters missing in SS not counting some of the other Allspark mutations of course.
Maybe they could include them in a future set? I wish to see more of these kind of kits for multiple SS figures. I'm hoping for one that includes bits for TF1 Megatron and KSI boss to make them more accurate. Heck, they could include an accurate head to make Nitro Zeus too.

Cool set, I might pick this up. The Kup puddles would have looked better in energon colors instead of pee.

 

In the real world the Centurion Drone pack was priced at a ridiculous hundred and whopping ten usd outside the US if you were fast enough to pre-order in the literal two hours it was available.

 

Jazz is the only one that seems to have anything “upgraded”. Everything else is filler to get you to pay the usual amount rather than a much cheaper amount.

 

I have all of these toys. Thankfully, there's not been anything that I really need in these sets.

I think the major concern is the stock roofs fragility, not its looks. But yeah it would take way too much work to replace.

Megatron has been around for years. I've got one in my gun bin somewhere I'll see if I can dig him up for a pic. I think it was by Dr. Wuu but its been so long I can't swear to it.
