We already know from Drift, Shatter and Dropkick that Hasbro will not attempt true Triple Changers in the movie lines, they'll just make multiple toys, one for each mode. If the presence of the Porsche is being overstated, it's entirely possible they simply won't make a toy of it.

 

Right, but this is the first instance where we have a nugget of info to speculate on a G1 MP Jazz or CJ. Speculate being the operative word. I see some people constantly treat this thread like a wishlist for those two characters and there’s no real proof that hammering away at the same point over and over will get them the license they need to make those two. It becomes redundant after a while. If Porsche allowing them to use their car in the next movie scratches an itch, cool. However, there’s no way of knowing if that will lead to any toys as someone else pointed out. Let’s see what happens.

 

I jumped on the RP soundwave. I know a takara 2.0 is a when and not an if it's going to be done. But, with how disappointed I've been with the quality of their products lately, I'm gonna test the waters. Fanstoys stuff has always been top notch quality from the ones I've picked up

 

I want it to be a positive sign and join the fun, I really do, but just because they got permission to use a Porsche in the film doesn't necessarily mean they'll have a licence to start making MP Jazz, or even a toy of that movie Mirage using a Porsche. Dino was a Ferrari in the movie but HasTak never got the licence to make a toy with a Ferrari alt mode. I know there's different licensing reasons behind that but it's an example of why it may not mean a green light for licensed Porsche figures.

I'm just weary from the lack of MP Jazz after so many years, so I can't get my hopes up any more until there's a concrete announcement  

 

Why would they even need licensing for a G1 cartoon Jazz? SS86 Jazz doesn't have it.

 

Cause the MP line always tries to go for licensed vehicles for the car bots. And now that Porsche is letting Hasbro have their car be in a movie it's more likely now then probably the 80s.

And for SS86 Jazz, he's part of the mainline. Which aside from Earthrise Bumblebee, has always pulled a 3rd party by making a "new take" on vehicles while still being unique enough to not be sued.

 

Oh my, forgive those of us who keep the hope alive for MP Jazz, CJ, and Mirage   Especially when there have always been rumors/insider speculation to keep the speculating alive in the SPECULATION thread.  

I will keep those positive vibes going, much to the chagrin of a few.  

MP Jazz, MP CJ, MP Mirage will happen. With there being a Porsche Autobot in the upcoming movie, licensing does not look to be an issue.  

 

It's been said a million times but worth repeating: appearing in movie does not necessarily mean licensed for toys.

He most certainly will not be licensed or need any licensing from another company whatsoever. I fully expect Perceptor to happen in the next 5 years.

Preceptor has to be one of the easiest figures for Takara to engineer for MP. I’m surprised they didn’t bang him out already.

 

Was Perceptor ever available in other colors in the Microman or Transformers toy lines? I only know of the black Transformers repaint called Magnificus, but I don't even know the origin of that repaint. Is it from a crossover comic or something? It's not from the G1 cartoon anyway and therefore I would not be interested in it. But if there is any repaint possibility, then doing Perceptor would be even more interesting for TT. On the other hand, TT still hasn't released a black Nissan Vanette, which would be easy money from the Diaclone crowd I think.

I'm sure we'll get Perceptor one day. It can be next year, but it could also be in five years. TT is full of surprises. Raiden, Skids and Skyfire have proven that once more. I don't think anyone expected those to happen before Blaster, or Trailbreaker and Hoist for example. I'm just sitting back and enjoying the ride, being glad with every G1 release that we're getting, even with poor Skids.  

 

The black e-hobby Magnificus is a recreation of the origin of the figure from Micro Change/Microman.

In Micro Change Transformers Perceptor was black and the actual size of the toy. A toy with three modes: robot, microscope and a light emitting tank. The latter could be operated by humanoid toy, a Microman, that formed the base for the GI Joe figures. This is why Magnificus was black and came with such a figure.

(There was also a KO of this Micro-Change Perceptor, also black.)

But that's it for alternate deco's. In the past we might have gotten a Marvel version (mostly dark blue with some red), but that seems unlikely these days. Another option is the colours of the limbs: the thighs and and lower arms were a different shade of blue in the cartoon than the toy, but if this would be enough to warrant a release I doubt.

Thus little repaint potential, but that doesn't seem to be important anymore.

 

I am very curious as to why we don’t have a lifeline teal Arcee repaint.

 

Previously, I wanted this to happen more than any other toon-accurate refurbish, but the upgrade kits to remove the skirts really have made me take to these two guys more than I ever would've thought.

Cell-shading on the chest also helps, but I really pulled a 180 on these two.

 

Agreed. Shadow Fisher kit installed, and I really don't see how you can improve the aesthetic. Perhaps adding articulation etc. but I don't see them itching to do that when they can convince us those figures need that overhaul by doing an articulated Trailbreaker, or something, first.

 

One difficult but doable thing I’d like to see is a way to make the chest window completely rectangular. It would really minimize his beer gut appearance.
