They hit the packaging designs for the Youth versions out of the park across the board.

So I got to taking apart my G2 Deadend and I'm so glad I did because it would have broken and I didn't want to join the club! I wanted to move the legs as little as possible to transform him so I could take him apart and that proved to be very difficult. One leg moved with a lot of resistance while the other started to but stopped. The movement within both legs was already exceeding the typical amount of resistance on a very tight joint made with parts of that size so I knew something was wrong plus everything made those pressurized plastic squeaks.

First the pin holding the parts was unusually tight for these parts and once I got it out I found out that the parts that keep breaking are either molded or drilled with way too small of a hole! The press fit on that pin is way too much so I used a 2mm drill to clear the hole and even that was tight going in. It actually measured 2.03mm and was slightly smaller than the pin which created a fit where you can put the pin through by hand with a snug slip fit and even shaking the leg around would not let the pin fall out, I like this fit.

Second, the hole through the clevis type upper thigh piece appears to be molded/drilled to low and this is causing a lot of pressure/resistance when swiveling the leg outwards. The thigh piece has a flatter area on the inside of the leg which gives the other part clearance, but once moved past it to the top radius portion of the leg, the shoulder of the hip swivel presses into it creating a lot of resistance. I sanded around the radius of the thigh part and used a hobby knife to shave some of the shoulder reducing the pressure. Had the hole been drilled a few thousandths higher it would have made a ton of difference.

Third, the gap in the area where everyone is experiencing breaking is either too small or the thickness on the corresponding area of the waist is too thick. It was creating enough pressure that when I would put the leg into half of the waist, it would pop out on it's own. I didn't want to mess with the leg and jeopardize the part's integrity because of its size so I assembled the waist and used a stone bit from my Dremel rotary tool and by hand I turned it taking off enough material to leave a nice friction fit while getting rid of the wedge like force.

Taking those three problems together against the size of that part, it's no wonder everyone has been getting such little use before it broke. Without knowing what to look for it would just feel like a snug joint but it's really stressing the hell out of the tiny mushroom peg area. Unless XTB catches on to this then it's unfortunate that Deadend should be immediately taken apart to look for these problems and fix as needed. I'm confident I would have broken mine had I not seen so many report on this and if I would have chose to just play around with him first.

    Hopefully this info can help.

Based on how XTB paints every surface of each figure, is it possible they didn’t account for the added thickness from the paint to the sizing of these parts?

The waist and upper legs are plastic only, no paint, it purely is a tolerance issue

I bought the toy version to finish up my set. Have the toon version preordered (any day now…..) Toy version so far has worked great. No resistance with the legs (fingers crossed). This really helps with what to look for when I get the toon version. Thanks!

I have the toon reissue preordered too. Its speculated for August now if I remember correctly. I'm hoping XTB how sorted this issue because they must know about it with the amount of replacements they had to send out. They cleared through their stock of parts and have no more to hand out! Lots of people had theirs break and was seem like once or twice a day someone was on here with the issue. They were already breaking a lot when they started the toy version so maybe it's already fixed in those.

My description of the resistance was not exaggerated one bit so if you had anything like that, you would know. Those 3 points of resistance put a lot of pressure on that 4-5mm area of the peg and swiveling the leg from the lower portion especially, gives more leverage to add to the breaking. I'm glad you got a good one and dont have to deal with an out of the box repair. My advice to anyone is take it slow feeling out the joints.

TCP just charged me for Gravestone Youth ver. Sooooo.... either he's coming earlier than expected, or they had another glitch.

It's suddenly available at ShowZ: X-Transbots MX-12T Gravestone Motormaster Youth Version, so I am guessing this thing has truly been released.

Wow. I got the invoice from TCP tonight and was legit startled because I don't have many items at that price that I was expecting anytime soon.

It's most probably for real. TCP's system glitches have never sent charges, only pre-arrival emails.

I got a payment request from ShowZ as well, so I reckon it's the real deal. Now just waiting (im)patiently for the preorders of the Youth Trailer to go up...

Looking at the combined mode render, it seems the engine on Dragstrip is sitting flush in the cockpit. That was not possible for the G1-cartoon inspired version in combined mode. If anyone could check if this feature actually exist that would be great.

probably not since the forearms of drag strip sit in there. I removed said forearms to get the engine block flush since I have no plans of ever using it in bot mode.
