You’ve come to the wrong fandom.

Personally I love when something new, or a new interpretation of existing characters, are on the horizon. Scourge is a perfect example, who in various continuities has been:

1) a mustachioed servant of Galvatron who becomes a space bathtub with rocket boosters

2) the OG (and best by a WIDE margin) version of Nemesis Prime

3) a three-headed dragon, ruler of Jungle Planet, loosely aligned with the Decepticons

4) the soon-to-be leader of the Terrorcons

People seem to forget that being too rigid, too G1 faithful is what almost killed the brand in the early-mid 90s. Even though I’m not a huge Beast-era fan in general, Transformers was on code blue prior to BW. Sales numbers speak for themselves

If you want an example of an inflexible brand, look at GI: Joe.

can you point me to which of these are complaining about every little detail? i see a lot of people saying the car fits jazz better but only burnout and maybe novaburnhilde's second post, but other than that you were the only one making a mountain out of a molehill. if "car look like other character!" is nitpicky then i have horrible news for you about... well, a lot of things.

I think the bigger mistake with Blitzwing wasn't changing his name late in production, it was never releasing a round of Seeker themed repaints of his Studio figure. I'm willing to accept that we can have a Seeker named Blitzwing in the Bay universe (or whatever we're calling it in the event of a reboot) but I'd really really like to see that toy in G1 Starscream colors.

 

Jokes aside, I honestly l don’t mind mirage being Porsche. It’ll be really cool if they somehow mix mirage and jazz’s designs together. Also mirage might get his original alt mode because they said that mirage will be shapeshifter.

Even then I'm still looking forward to seeing how this guy looks, just because we had one little not so positive thing to say doesn't mean we're suddenly not on board for this film. I think it's a fairly obvious thing to notice, surely.

I'd totally be for seeing that, like how apparently Scourge has several inspirations that went into his design, alongside Nightbird having some things in common with Sideways. It'd be cool as hell if he adopts an F-1 car at some point, just as an homage.  

 

Smokeyoreo18's post seemed overly snarky, while Daaarttt's emoji implies genuine confusion about it not being Jazz.

Maybe it is making a mountain out of molehill, but these types of comments have been going on for all 14 years of the live action movies.

You joined earlier this year, I'm talking about the shitshow that went down back in 2016/17 when it was revealed Drift got completely overhauled because that's how little Paramount cared about maintaining a character sticking to the same alt. mode if their name wasn't Bumblebee.

For the record, Ricochet is from Headmasters and has commonly been used by Hasbro as the default repaint for any Jazz figure. He even got a Classics Selects figure out of the POTP version.

And what, you're going to tell me Devestator was in the first movie? Because Brawl wasn't ever called Brawl in the first movie.

And ROTB Scourge allegedly is going to turn into a truck and you forgot to mention that RID Scourge actually was the leader of the splinter faction RiD Decepticons, rather than the original RiD badguys the Predacons led by Megatron. So, really, for all your talk about inflexibility, ROTB Scourge does sound a lot like they're basing him off of the most popular incarnation rather than a whole new take.

The point was they cobbled together an imitation Camaro. They somehow were too cheap to make an imitation Bugatti despite a significantly larger budget than the first film.

 

Honestly this debate is pointless, they've chosen mirages alt mode that's that. Yes it's not faithful to G1 or bayverse, but if a character having the incorrect alt-mode from your point of view is going to sour your view of the film as a whole then your kinda f@cked. I believe new interpretations of characters design wise are good, because 40 year old cartoon designs and characterless blockbuster movie designs will becomes stale eventually. The main problem with this fandom is not enough people are open to new interpretations of character designs.

 

I was lurking on various sites, at the time, including this one. Still, it's entirely possible I missed or forgot that. If that's the case, it's stupid and people have far too much investment in what brand of car a Transformer turns into.

 

Why are there so much people in this thread upset over it being Mirage and not Jazz. Not everything has to be really faithful to G1 lore.
