I actually dont think there's a clear coat on any of MTs stuff, definitely not on Meteor. Unless thats on the new EX version. Meteor's red is fully painted though. All the gray and blue are just plain bare plastic.

More to the point though, Meteor is cheaper, yes. And it shows, in many ways .And this coming from a happy Meteor owner.

Oh yours too? I had all the purple paint just slide right off one of the orange flip around windows. And don't forget all the mismatched knee ratchets. No double standards at all....

Dumb points awarded for assuming years later I’ve only had a single Meteor come in and out of my collection. Extra points awarded for posting a post with a single like when trying to imply I care about who likes a stupid transformer board post.

in another point of irony, I had to replace one of them due to the ankle sheering off due of a manufacturing defect.

It was the actual drum for the ankle tilt. The whole thing was ceased and one small turn was all it took for a nice thick snap

I’ve Futured up my Starscream ankle (on the inside) for the second time with the same unsuccessful result…then I figured something out. As I moved the ankle forwards and back, I watched the pin head move as well. This shouldn’t happen, the big pin head should stay in place as the plastic cylinder spins. As I wiggle the ankle, the pin head also wiggles. It seems to not have been fired in deep enough at the factory. I dare not try to push it in further since we are dealing with crispy plastic that has already cracked in many cases.

TLDR; put a few drops of Future into the big pin head. This is where we need the friction to tighten that pin.

I believe the pin moving with the ankle is the correct action. The pin holds the ankle/foot against the cylinder on the inside ankle. The friction needed for the ankle tilt is between the inside ankle cylinder and the peg from the ankle/foot into the cylinder. This can be seen from the disassembly done by @Jarrod. So I think the correct locations to apply joint tightening agent are the following two places:

I'm pretty confident this is where the fluid needs to be for sure.

I'm not too sure if the fluid could get to where it needs to be from here, but it's possible.

Everyone need full attention on this , because he right , the pin does rotate along with his ankle!
Im thinking of putting super glue into the pin head.. like how it worked on Zeta Blitzwing to stop the movement of the pin. Anyone volunteed?
