You managed to get a replacement from AmiAmi? Did you have to mail the first one back before the ship the second? I'm assuming they didn't cover shipping? I haven't even tried with AE because they are notoriously crusty.

I'm deciding not to with Starscream since his cracks seem so prevalent and so far aren't hurting anything on mine (not sure my ankle's really bad but he's standing up just fine after some floor polish so happy with it), but did do returns/exchanges before with Hounds. They'll totally do it, you do have to mail it back first, and then they do refund shipping. Just have to provide the tracking number and a picture of your shipping receipt/invoice.

Edit: Just checked my archived emails to be sure. Glad I did! Don't know if the policy has changed since then, but they did have a disclaimer to consult them before shipping if return shipping price exceeds 10,000 yen. That's the max shipping fee that they'll refund by default so need to get approval otherwise.

Curious, so they want the whole thing back, they don’t send out replacement parts?

So to be clear this is with AmiAmi you're talking about correct? Or did you mean AE? My order is with AE.

They only do full replacements or refunds.
    Sorry yes, AmiAmi.

Don't you think pictures would help a lot with demonstrating these issues? Pictures show the nature and severity of the issue much more effectively.

Oh my God. Those aren't minor at all! Absolutely get them to replace the entire figure as many times as necessary, until they fix their shit and you get one that isn't damaged right out of the box. This is happening because either their engineering and tolerances are bad, or they are assembling the figures in a space with extreme temperatures, such that thermal expansion or contraction are resulting in the part shattering as it changes sizes. The pin housing is shrinking enough to crack, or it was too small to begin with. The pin is too large and the dark grey plastic is too weak, so the pin housing shattered when they put the pin into it. Holy crap, issues like this on a brand new MP figure?

Yes, I have to send the whole figure back. They are, however reimbursing the return shipping, and they said that they would then ship the replacement out once I send photo confirmation that there is a label created for the return; AND they say that they'll ship the replacement as soon as I send that photo confirmation, as well.

Yeah, whole thing, no replacement parts. Not that it matters, I attempted to disassemble the leg, and I think with all the pins involved in the lower leg, I don't think it would be wise for inexperienced consumers to attempt trying to line everything on the panels up to reassemble it.

It’s a gamble to send back because unless either Takara or AmiAmi inspects it, there’s no telling if the replacement will be free of problems. I hope yours turns out good.

Received a replacement from AJ - other than a few chips that I can probably fix he seems okay. Anyone have this molding thing on their copy? Would this be considered minor/fixable? Starscream mold.jpg

It’s since been rebranded and it’s name depends on the country it’s sold in,I believe. In the US I think it’s now called Pledge Revive It, acrylic based floor gloss. It’s the acrylic nature that makes it work for tightening joints & protecting scratchable areas of paint & chrome. Google it up! Should be easy to obtain for less than $10.

That is certainly a concern, and I did ask Ami what would happen if that were to be the case. They haven't responded about that yet.

I had the same follow up with Hound.

Assuming they've not changed since then (I doubt it), they'll 100% be willing to take the replacement back if it still flawed. I don't know about a second replacement though..

I can stop laughing when I read:

"Nothing to report on mine. Its perfect. just some little details:

    Cracks
    Stress plastic
A piece that get loose with the 2nd transformation
Some demons getting out of the box once I opened it

Other than that, my figure is perfect! o_O

Do you mind telling us how much shipping back to them costed? Also do you have to ship via the method they shipped to you?
That makes sense…so it’s still a gamble. I’m glad they’re even offering to exchange for a replacement since they were known to not even offer that just a few years ago.

I usually read up on posts by @Jarrod and @ziltama especially when it comes to rivets/pins. As of late, Jarrod has suggested that Future may help tighten the ankles more than Kiki joint tightener due to being able to seep into the joints better(I’m guessing via lower viscosity).
