The option of toon and toy looks is nice, and maybe a new trend for Fanstoys/Robot Paradise as I think their Perceptor has toon and toy chest options too?

However, personally if I were to use the toy details I'd want his limbs to be silver instead of white. The white looks good for the toon layout but a bit off for the toy configuration. If this wasn't modern pricing and I didn't have to cancel all business and social plans for a week to get a preorder in, I'd consider getting two and painting the white silver on one of them.

 

Thank you. I think Soundwave V2 makes sense, since last MPs become more and more to be cartoon accurate.

I’m in the same boat. Actually had to look at the colour pics a few times and compare to my MP-13 to be sure this was actually FansToys and not just a lightly remoulded KO of Takara. There are plenty of changes there but they’re smaller and in colour it really doesn’t look THAT much different to 13, especially if you don’t care about the toy parts. I can wait for a while to see if Takara announce something and if necessary take a swing at FT’s next time round for the inevitable 2nd release in a year or so. But it is good to see FT pumping out the coloured test shots again - it’s been dry for a while but Huffer, Percy, TB, Hoist and Soundwave in such quick succession? FT’s been busy behind the scenes during COVID.

 

Welp, I take back what I said. While the pics did allure me, the price put me right back in the camp of Takara Soundwave looking just fine on my shelf. While I very much prefer the toon aesthetic, this isn't different enough to make me want to shell out that much money. I hope he's great for you guys though!

 

I think I'm like a lot of people who I've seen commenting on Facebook and on here. It looks really nice, really nice especially that toon/toy option for head. But is it really that much better than the TT which I only paid £110 for? Not enough for me to splurge on this.

Am I reading correctly that Takara are planning a V2 also? Again, I really do think they nailed soundwave the first time around. So much so no one has bothered going up against it barring the excellent MMC tapes.

Toy bot mode almost won me over, lack of availability at the sites I use helped me choose to pass. This is a really nice looking figure.

 

The thing that surprises me about this, aside from the name change, is the release date. September. Usually new mold POs for Fans Toys don't go up until 4+ months from announcement. They are turning this stuff around super quick.

I agree v.2 TT Soundwave makes sense. I would argue that him (and Grimlock) are the only remaining 'Iconic' characters who haven't received a toon v.2 update. It's a testament to how good the original mold is, because alot of people don't feel the need to upgrade. MP-11 though? Get me a broom. That being said this pack of tapes for me are necessary

I would have loved to grab this guy as I need a Soundwave something terrible but the price is way out of my league. Especially to come up with by September. It's looking like my only option is going to be THF Soundwave.

 

Mixed feelings on this. The price is killer, as in your bank account will be assassinated. Tapes sold separately? (WHAT?!!!) I was hoping it would be closer in color to the Newage Scaramanga. Other than that its very close to Another Unexpected Panda digibash which I think looks good (see thumbnail below). Not digging the chrome painted parts, however it does make the toy mode look great. For fans of Soundwave whose nostalgia and connection comes from the toy this one is for you.

Looks pretty nice, but I've got a G1 one and Magic Square already.

For a MP size Soundwave, I think I want something what Lemontree did with Shockwave, G1 like robot mode, more practical alt mode (or at least, not one wholly out of place in a modern setting).

 

I like Takara official MPs though, but qualitywise I'd rather choose FT...ehhm Robot Paradise.
Quality is just not Takaras strongest thing and neither their price point lately.
