Hello TFW! How was everyone's fourth of July? I had a week off from my program, so when I wasn't spending time with my family, I was able to complete my backlog of customs. First of which is Stepper. Now, I've always wanted a transforming Jagermeister Porsche 935. I'm surprised Takara never released one. Maybe having a transforming Porsche with Alcohol Sponsors was too redundant. Anyway, I remembered awhile back, Botcon released an orange Jazz repaint known as SG Stepper. Basically, if Ricochet and Stepper were separate characters in the G1 universe, this is what I'd imagine Stepper would look like. Also since Jazz's Japanese name is Meister, Stepper's Japanese name would be Jager. Hmm... The number 52 car was my primary source of inspiration, but since the car shell is not totally accurate to begin with, I did take some creative liberties. I don't know if you can tell, but I had my roots in plastic model car kits. I was pretty bad at them though. Here is Robot mode: In conclusion, I like Porsches. Seriously though, I do have a spare SS86 Jazz. I was planning to paint that one white and throw on the reprolabels, but the Valliant livery is kind of tempting Thanks for looking!
Looks great Paint the headlights and grill like the original and it'll be perfect. And I'd really like to see this happen
I used 1/43 waterslide decals that I bought off ebay. They were actually meant for the Porsche 962 btw.
And the Taillights! I would too, but I'm probably going to take a break from new customs. Those stripes are going to require a lot of mental energy oof.
Yea, I thought about those, too, but didn't feel the need to mention them and you totally validated my decision It wouldn't be a new custom. Just paint the headlights silver (mixed with gold) or gold+white or something like this and the area around them black. And the middle section black, too. Or if you wanna go all out of your way: cut a rectangle out of the middle of the bumper and glue on black mesh from the inside. Like this: "stripes"?
Absolutely love this. That orange is very nice. Love the decals too. The gold on the gun and others bits looks great as well. I may borrow this idea from you!! And please do make the Vaillant livery. I'd be willing to bet it'll come out just as awesome as this one here did.
I should have been more specific, I was talking about the Valliant Porsche in regards to a new custom and stripes. Although, I just found 1/43 Valliant decals, so hopefully it'll be a cinch.
Thank you very much! Please do, I'm very flattered. I'll probably do the Valliant livery, but that'll be in the future I think. It's just not something I want to pursue right now.
Minor update: I finally got around to touching up the grill and taillights. IDK if I just need more practice hand painting or something but the taillights look kind of off. I feel like the rear proportions might have something to do with it, the back of the car definitely looks more squished to me than a regular porsche.
Hey man, racing liveries are serious business! I actually panicked a little bit before I realized it was edited. You got me pretty good.
Heh, glad I could surprise you a bit. Seriously though, those are some really nicely done decals. If you ever do the Valliant livery I'm sure it'll turn out as good as this one.
Thanks! I think I'm ready to start working on customs again, so I hope I nail the Vaillant livery. ... if you don't mind I think I might actually use that picture for my signature
Hello everyone, I know there has been a lot of demand for the Vaillant livery, so I'm happy to announce that I've started the project! Before I continue, there are a few things I have to clarify. I was only able to find 1/43 decals for the #40 car. Which looks like this: So unfortunately, no Bunny logo. It's not my favorite version of the livery, but it's what I have to work with. Also, as you can tell, the rear fenders are different the fenders on the toy. This is critical because of the way the stripes lie on the fenders. I don't have a good transition, so let's just get to the pics. I'm scratch building new silhouette fenders. The plan is to add some epoxy putty to cement the new fenders in place, fill in the creases, and marry the bottom of the stock fenders and new fenders together. With the new part, the leg armor can't rotate anymore. I could trim off some styrene to allow for rotation, but I think that would affect vehicle aesthetics, so I'm not going to do that. Yeah, pretty straightforward. I'm not very skilled with styrene, so this is a good project to get some practice in. Also I just realized these might actually be the wrong fender style for #40. I think what I made is more reminiscent of Martini #2, Vaillant #2 and Jagermeister #52. IDK man I can't keep my racecars straight.
I think BRUN is meant for the Porsche 962. Since I was using decals from a different car, I decided to be a little loose with the decal placement. For instance, none of the 935 cars has #17 designation. I just put BRUN there cause I thought it looked cool. Do you know what it means btw? I have no clue.
