Nothing was damaged I hope? My Roadking box was beyond effed up but the figure surprisingly was unharmed.

Well shoot, looks like I've got that too. :(

Left ankle is more visible but is actually the tighter of the two. Right isn't floppy loose (although side-to-side is and can't figure out how to tighten that rivet easily) but still noticeably a little different.

Sorry to hear, ankle/foot posts on both legs were cracked on mine.

So, a question for those of you who have had him for a bit now:

Is it normal for me to literally just be sitting here starring at it, with a huge s-eating grin on, because I just can't believe this thing exists in real, concrete, tangible, 3D form?

I'm at a loss for words. Kudos to you Takara Tomy Wizards. Kudos.

For those that have cracked tailfin housings... what direction did you turn the tailfin(s) on initial transformation? On my copy, it seems that they only rotate one way, i.e, anti-clockwise for the left, clockwise for the right (as looking down on the model with the nose up)... is it possible they were forced the wrong way? For the record, I am in no way a Takara fanboy, especially after Hound...

Mine was cracked right out of the box. I dont expect that crack is user error.

I turned it as shown in the instructions but very slowly/carefully and still saw cracks form on the right. It hasn’t cracked further even when turning quickly in the opposite direction, back and forth.

    It’s not.

If I was a Starscream fan he may have knocked Inferno off the top spot as my favourite MP. I can live with the couple of QC issues mine has, as they are out of sight and appear to be easy enough to stabilise.

I’ve got all the right faces so that’s a win, heheh.

I’ve been wanting to take some pics to share appreciation but the last few days have been a write-off - hopefully this weekend…

    I hear ya.

Oddly enough, I just bought Inferno a few days ago; should be here this week.

After playing around with this a bit, I truly believe this crack is merely a one-and-done. There is no indication that after that initial "crack", it'll progress any further. Looks like that initial turn of the stabilizer gave it a snap, but now there's no reason for it to keep going on.

    No need to stress.

But there was no initial turn on my part. This is a crack when I havent even taken it out of the clam shell yet. Luckily I have my MPs in bot mode so it's pretty much hidden. Still a shit thing on such an otherwise awesome looking figure. Very similar to the tiny crack I had on Hound's cannon arm.

Right, but that means someone did already; in the factory obviously.

What I'm saying is, it already happened, be it you or someone else; but I really don't see it furthering.

Meanwhile went for another transformation cycle. 1 engine nozzle was always easier to extend than the other and I found out why(see dark grey piece):

Arghhh luckily the crack doesn’t widen when the nozzle is extended or retracted and the other size isn’t cracked. This is where a solid pin was used also.

All the cracks I’ve noticed on my copy I noticed are on plastic that doesn’t feel prone to cracking. So for now, I don’t think most of the cracks will get worse. I think the cracks are occurring due to how these are assembled(with the firing of the pins/rivets into the plastic).

Also noticed that the faux canopy can push forward a few millimeters and also push in a few millimeters. Pushing in/compressing it in jet mode is the only way for the cover to clip on within the underbody(and even then it’s a shallow clip). Pushing in the bottom and pushing the top forward in robot mode helps free the ab crunch I think.

Not sure if this is supposed to happen but sometimes when enabling the ab crunch, a light grey clip on the right side of the bottom torso unclips.

Also in jet mode, the way the rear landing gear are handled here is better than on MP-03/11 where either looked like the jet was resting on its belly or landing gear doors. There’s definitely more distance between the rear tires here and the underbody by comparison.

Best way I can describe the jet mode is take the Sunbow animation model and whatever jet parts are shown(for example some of the robot parts like the knees could be seen on the animation model the animators would reference) have detail from the F-15. So while this is figure is based on the animation, it still does have some realistic details as to not leave the jet mode look basic/plain as hell. It’s a good mix.

Good chance it won’t, at least for now.

Seriously... What's wrong with Takara's plastic mix?

    Exactly my point.

China is probably getting too expensive to go back to now for TT. With these less experienced/qualified Vietnamese factories, they didn't even think to account for the fact that their design needs to facilitate ease of production by the looks of it.

But even TT used a better factory, and the tolerances were right/pin shot in properly etc, this is still a sh!tty design to begin with imo. The friction won't last for too long. I get it they're saving space in the shin to accommodate transformation, but what's the point of all this great articulation they've put in if the figure can't even barely establish a solid foundation to stand on its own....

I've got the same thing. I'm not sure if every copy has this problem, or just some. I went from "I can't wait to get him" to "maybe I should have stayed with MP-11" :(
Are there people who don't have the problem with the foot/feet?
MPs had their problems in the past, but the ones they've had recently (MP-44's ankle, MP-47, MP-52) are ludicrous. For the first time I'm thinking about giving up buying new TFs.
