This thread is making me feel good that I have the straight KO of him already. Fuuuuuuuuuuuu...  

 

So I didn't know about the IT MP Megatron yellowing issue until I got my MP Starscream and setup a photo shoot.

Looks like it has yellowing in a few gray plastic pieces including 2 pieces in the lower back, wrists, thigh flaps, ankles and feet.

The ones that really stuck out were the neck and shoulder areas which were very noticeable.



Until I consider getting a new replacement, (Suggestions besides getting the Takara version?) I decided to experiment with a mix of baking soda, peroxide, tin foil and UV lighting. I was too afraid to take him apart, so I basically made a mini sauna for Megs while covering the parts I didn't want exposed to the UV lighting.



After a few attempts, the results were a nice improvement, but kind of a pain to clean up afterwards since I had to polish and clean up hardened peroxide that fell through the cracks.

 

Woah. That's an amazing difference.
I have five KO versions of this mould - (The original shiny Magten, a copy of Magten in a cell-shaded paint job, THF, IT, and a gold chromed version.)
IT is the only one showing the yellowing, and it's in the same spots and is really obvious. The other place I'm seeing pretty bad yellowing on IT is the wrists. I'm tempted to try this method (I have plenty of UV lights around thanks to 3D printing) but the cleanup sounds a bit painful and I'd be worried it's just going to go yellow again. I think the key to stopping it from re-occurring is to coat it with a UV blocking clear coat to stop UV and Oxygen from getting to the surface again?
I really like the IT version of the mould but that yellowing is a huge pain.

 

It's August now and still no news it seems. Pretty unfortunate considering I paid full pre-order.

 

Does anyone know where I can find the clear KO version? Trying to find a reliable seller.

 

Did anyone ever try getting in contact with the manufacturer to see if it could be fixed with the reissue? I mean obviously it would be too late by now, but hopefully they knew about the problem a long time ago.

 

I really could use it now. Well, I really could use Magten, but at least this.

Paying eBay prices for remaining stock? Don't expect it to be pretty tho. Last time I looked up a used magten it was takara mp36 priced due to being a "rare collectible"

EDIT: Looks like the straight MP36 KOs are hovering near $100 & THF or IT-01 are in the $125+shipping from the few that have remaining stock. Could be worse i suppose, but it still smarts.

 

I noticed on StoreZ said estimate is Late August for the reissue of IT-01. Taobao sellers are undetermined as of yet lads.

 

Showz just changes the due date every month after it doesn’t arrive in that particular month. Almost to the point I’m wondering if they’ll give me store credit for the one I paid for. Not sure that works with them

 

Over in the Showz.store thread, they responded directly to this question and said late August was their ETA. Makes it feel a bit more concrete, but I agree it appears they keep pushing this date forward with no other info.

 

So while i wait for whether or not my DHF Megatron is a scam on ebay or not, i was wondering. How is the 1 to 1 Megatron KO quality on AliExpress?

Not to be morbid, but I hate to think some have dropped dead waiting for this. I know that happened with Diamond doing an electronic Star Trek Reliant ship.

 

True that, but given that IT is under BMB and with the last years raid, they might have to keep it down low at the moment? Who knows? Again, communicated with Taobao sellers and they can't determine anything either

They have to. No choice. Point is as long as a improved reissue is incoming, why not right?

 

Sp how does the straight up KO compare to the official? I was thinking about grabbing one from Ali if my DHF, I grabbed from ebay turns out to be fraud.

 

I was telling myself this back in December over the very same listing.

 

How does the straight ko hold up, in your opinion?
