Managed to find Rhinox at Walmart today!

This makes me feel a special kind of happy to see modern renditions of almost the full Maximal team. Really something special. Tigatron can’t come soon enough!

 

It kind of sad that Commander class figures have better hands than all of those.

 

Dang! I preordered Rhinox at the collector store in the next town from me. But then I wanted to find a store that will have it sooner and I don't head out there as much as I use to. So I cancelled order. Sure enough, they get their Rhinox shipments last Thursday, but they are all reserved for preorders and they are currently sold out now.

If you can think of him as Rodimus Prime in an armored Rodimus suit, like UM, then he's quite enjoyable lol.

I like him well enough in my collection.

Nasty stuff, other than blast effects (which I've had no trouble with), I can't think of a scenario that any of my figures would be in contact with PVC material like that for long periods of time, and my collection is down in the basement where its cool 24/7, but thanks for the heads up.

Wow the pencil eraser actually does work.



Seems like I got around 97% of the battle damage removed, there's still a tiny bit on both the forearms. I'll have to get a new eraser since mine got pretty used up.

 

Heard the alcohol trick removes some of the shininess in the chest, is that the same for the eraser trick? Not going to do it myself, I’m fine with the battle damage, but it’s something I’m curious about.

 

Not all isopropyl is equal. Some isopropyl under 99.9% contain mixers/oils that can damage plastic. Cheap odd/non branded isopropyl from stores inc amazon may do this where sellers/producers water it down with whatever. Some mistakenly use surgical spirit that can contain oils and methylated type spirits which can damage plastic.

Others have used nail varnish remover or cleaners which contain acetone that will damage the surface.

Safest option is 99+% pure isopropyl then water down/dilute yourself. I used neat 99.9% on mine with no damage. You do need to wash the surface over with a wet pad/cloth when finished though as you can get residue left from the battle damage paint after the isopropyl evaporates.

The pencil eraser trick works but this is a light very fine grit effectively sanding the surface so that approach can remove the shine/natural surface effect too as can the various magic eraser / cleaning cloths.

 

Might be the morning meds, but a loki / galvatron sounds like it might be cool.
