Really a shame this guy had to be released the same week as MP-52.

For people who use Despotron as their Megatron like me, this guys a must. Especially after they fixed my biggest problem with the original, the face being too dark to see anything clearly.

Hopefully they re-release Skywarp and TC.

If you ordered a copy of the EX, can you post some photos? I’m trying to find good comparisons with the original.

If you are looking for hyper cartoon accuracy, MP-52 is the one. But if you are looking for a good Starscream, then this might not be a bad choice.

I received my MP-52 earlier this week but I have yet to transform it after seeing reports of cracked fins, loose knees, etc.

Me too, I haven't seen a single actual example the EX yet that I know of.

And with the prices of Lightning and Skycrow dropping, I’d really like to know whether or not I should just snag used copies online or wait for the reissues.

I already have Starscream and have installed MP-44’s head, so I’m really at a critical crossroads as far as Seekers go.

Ok I got him today. I’ll try and post photos later but I’m a shit photographer so I worry I’ll give people wrong impression

he comes out of the box with the dark face which scared me but he has 3 new faces which are a normal colour kinda like the others (lightning etc). Problem is when you put them in, the head won’t go back on properly. All 3 new faces on mine when you put them on and put the head back on, it wobbles freely. Only with the dark faces does the head fit back on properly. Luckily I recently got acid swarm and one of his faces worked (though even one of his didn’t)

the main difference I see is simply those faces, and the head transformation. I noticed that on acid swarm vs my lightning. When you transform lightning you have to get those notches in the side of his head. Acid swarm didn’t have that and neither does this new meteor. But that’s pretty minor.
If you already got the mp44 head particularly I probably wouldn’t bother. But if you don’t have him I still think he’s rad. He doesn’t look quite as toon as mp52 but I didn’t like the dumpy look of that (plus the cost and Qc).
I did consider selling lightning and waiting for the new one but I don’t think I’ll bother. They didn’t change anything but those head notches and add some accessories, which are more important for starscream than others cause of that stupid dark face. Seriously who signed off on that??

Hahahah, oh good grief. I probably shouldn't be surprised Takara's QC is another fail, after MP-44, MP Hound, and whatever else they've released in the last couple years that have had some serious QC issues. I tend to pre-order two of any Takara G1 MP release, intending to keep them, but since MP-44, which I resold shortly after receiving, the Hounds I didn't bother to pick up, and I fear the same may be the case for MP-52 if issues are widespread with this one too.

It's incredibly disappointing what's happening with MP-52. I was so eager to pick up the official, that is until many negative reports regarding QC issues start rolling in at numerous sites (cracked hinges, stress marks, wrapped plastics, very loose joints, tolerance issues, busted ratchets etc...etc...). TT seems to on the roll with shoddy QC. WTF is going on with them as of late??

I'm going to stick with Meteor as my MP Starscream for now. He's rock solid and I've transformed him back and forth multiple times without any issues whatsoever. I may even get the remastered version.

I've heard rumblings about custom heads for Meteor. Can anyone confirm or deny this is a thing? Like many of you, I find the head too dark and too small and would love for an upgrade.

It's a thing. Just search for any of the Maketoys main 3 seekers (Lightning, Skycrow, Meteor) on Ebay and they should show up in the list.

Got my Meteor. Came out of the box slightly mid-transformation for the sake of easier shipping, but it was reasonable enough to get everything into place. Comes with everything the first Meteor came with plus wing fillers already in place and attached, 2 blast effects and 3 lighter face pieces. Honestly, I don't actually mind the darker faces under the right light. That said, the lighter faces don't fit, which is a damn shame.

There's possibly some tidied up tolerances/engineering, but I don't have the original for comparison.

Honestly, though, super happy with this guy.

Can you post a pic of the back of the new faces? That's unfortunate they don't fit. I plugged a lighter face from acid swarm into the old version without any issues.

Just note that most of the custom heads for him make him UNtransformable.
There is a reason why his head is so small as it needs to fit back in for transformation.
