Look good, but not worth dealing with the headaches of FTs pricing and scarcity. 

 

Done dealing with FT’s scarcity, at least for guys like this that still have a good chance of getting an official version.

I’ve got the MMC version as a stand-in already. This would just be another stand-in till Takara releases one.

Fair enough... maybe not so much “scarcity” as “need to stalk sites to get an order in.” (Only recently though, obviously this guy has been up for preorder for years.) But yeah, I’m sure there will be chances to get him if one wants to.

 

Did tfsource ever cancel their initial listing? I don't order from them, but I use them as a gauge as to when I should start checking my regular sites.

 

Waiting on the Toy Dojo preorder. That will be up on the third Friday after the fourth full moon on a leap year for 30 seconds, even if you’ve been a loyal repeat customer.

 

I think it's pretty obvious by now that they fucked up by making the individual 'bots too heavy and now they're trying to figure out how to make combiners that will stay standing and holding poses. Which is why I decided pretty fast that I was using other companies for the actual combiner. (I did get FT Silverbolt and Motormaster just to be individual figures though)

It's sad... the Dojo is my favorite domestic seller (great prices, fast shipping, and they're great guys in general), but their stock of everything TF-related seems so low that I'm hardly ever able to actually buy anything from them. Almost everything I'm interested in is sold out by the time I look, even though they're the first site I check for listings.

I have had this guy pre ordered with TCP for YEARS!!!! I think that they are going to honor the old pre-order with price adjustment.

 

That's HIGHLY illegal unless it was stated at the time of your preorder. They have to honor the price you pre-ordered at or lower.

Edit: I guess I should have clarified I was absolutely joking on this   I have my old BBTS preorder from years ago and don't expect them to honor it at all

Yeah, not sure about that being illegal but sure is dishonorable. I know that TFSource did that with Toyworld Knight Orion for example. They sent an email and jacked up the price. Obviously I cancelled with them and ordered elsewhere. I forget how much the bump was but it was substantial. I've had Outrider pre-ordered with them for literally a year or more also and hopefully they'll honor the original $150 price.

No they don't. They have raised prices on preorders in the past when the final price ends up being higher than the original solicitation. It happens. It's bad business for them to eat the cost and it would be put them in the hole for each preorder. Honoring a $99.99 preorder from years ago would be terrible if the new price comes in along the lines of current FT pricing. And, honestly, it's shitty of the fandom to throw a fit and expect retailers to just accept a loss in situations like this. FT sets the base price and places like TCP need to cover shipping costs, import costs and then make some kind of profit to stay in business.

This guy is most likely gonna end up costing $180 to $230 US retail. You can't honestly, in good faith, expect retailers to accept such a substantial loss.

They won't. In the past they have given folks a bit of a break on the final cost when prices have had to change but it will cost more than $99.99.
