How many other volumes could we expect? Will they continue with the new universe or start another line of collection?

They are doing both universes, we've already had 3 volumes and are expecting a 4th of the reboot.

Lucas35, always first with the hardcover news! :)

Love that cover. Good capture of the character, and nice colours/composition.

    EDIT:
It's an estimate because we don't know how much wider Hasbroverse stuff will be selected for inclusion, but I reckon eight volumes altogether in Phase Three.

As for the IDW2 universe - it's already being collected into hardcovers, so they may be no need to re-release it in an IDW Collection format. Or no need that I can think of :)

I honestly thought they should keep a schedule of 3 hardcovers a year. But I guess I'll have to wait it out on the 2.5/yr timetable. Once it's all done its time for a re-read.

It’s that face and smirk combo that never grows old. Here’s hoping the folks behind the movies find a way to make Starscream’s Mona Lisa smirk work on film. I came in a little late to the HC Collection game, but I’ve started going at it since. They’re worth every penny.

I'd happily pay for 3 or even 4 hardcovers per year but yeah, it looks like they're sticking to roughly one volume every six months (and occasionally they slip back). I hoped they might pick up the pace a bit when the 'verse ended, but I guess they're still getting money in from the trade paperbacks :)

As it seems IDW are losing the license - any thoughts on whether we'll get to complete the collection hardbacks? I'd happily pay for the final six over the rest of this year!

I'll be sooooo pissed if I can't get to finish it off

How many more after P3 vol2 up to Unicron would we need? They still need to get to First Strike, right?

Going by how P3 book 2 is broken up, about three more books if it was *just* LL, OP and one other book with the last being maybe oversized to fit the last seven of each series plus the seven issues of Unicron. It's the Hasbroverse crossovers that will add to the book count heavily.

    Yeah, doing some digging there's
    Rom vs Transformers
    Transformers vs Visionaries

Was Micronauts Wrath of Karza heavy on Transformers?

Some one shots like Requiem of the Wreckers and Salvation.

So with IDW about to lose the license are we even going to get the rest of the hardcovered collections. They'd probably be able to sneak in one more before next year 2 if theyre lucky.

I worked it out to be about 8 books for all of phase 3 a good while ago, including all the relevant cross overs... i dont think we're gonna be able to get them all, if they wont be allowed to publish after the license is up. Wonder how hard is could be for them to ratchet up the schedule of release to get em all out by a year?

Edit: after volume 2, it would have to be a new hardack every 2 months to finish in march 23

I really wish they would do the work and and put out all books every 2 months like you said. They have been very slow with these. So I won't be surprised if they come up short. I've wondered why they where so slow in putting these out.

17 issues feels like a lot in one book. Maybe I'm forgetting how many where in the earlier P1/P2 volumes, but this feels bigger.

I'd assume if they wanted to trim it down to it's minimum they could just finish it out with only the remainder of LL, OP, and Unicron - which would be ~40 issues which you could split over 2-3 volumes. Although it'd be nice to get stuff like Wreckers 3, ROM vs TF, Visionaries vs TF, etc in there too as they do ultimately tie in. Honestly, even if they had all the time in the world I don't think putting in every single Hasbroverse book would have been a great idea, even if they did star the odd TF here and there.

Same here - I've been really looking forward to completing the full continuity. Some of the art towards the end of the run is the best we've had.

I bought em all digitally, and i guess there is the option of the trades - but they are nothing compared to the hardbacks.

Been wanting to see Kei Zama's art on actual paper...
